Alternatively, will this refresh kit for the 300-series work for a 5800 ?:
I was looking at it again this morning, and the brush and squeegees look like they could use replacement as well

Scooba Repair vs. Replace
Our 5800 has some tank problems. There's a plastic bit near the valve that's broken off, looks like due to age/glue. When I go to fill the tank, all the water just comes right out because this piece has cracked off. I go to investigate if replacement tanks are available, (Thanks vic7767 ) and also d...

Third time's the charm :)
I let the (Still unnamed, down to "JASON" or "Alvin") Scooba out again tonight, but with a half tank of clean water and a correspondingly measured amount of "Scooba Juice" and it managed to complete a run, including(I think) the drying cycle. I left it alone in the kitc...

RK, What I generally do is wash the brush, brush holder, vacuum port, front wheel, and filter and let air dry. The filter, vacuum port, and between the front wheels can accumulate hair/debris. Pay attention to those areas. Good to know. Thanks! I personally keep them out of the Scooba until I run i...

Scooba 330 notes
So I finally got a Scooba this afternoon. We've had Roombas for almost 3 years now, but there have always been other things that popped to the top of the budget stack until now. I recently started a new job though and the first check came through so the Scooba was the celebratory purchase :) I got a...

The IRobot site user forums for both the Create and user community went down for maintenance on 6/14/08 and has not allowed anyone to access the forums since. Hey Vic, thanks for that bit of information. I went to the Create Forum the other day to post about my CamBot, got dumped into the Customer ...

Create-based CamBot
Hi all, I haven't posted here in a while. I've been too busy hacking my Create :) Here's my take on a "CamBot". It's basically a tripod mounted on a Create with some sonar sensors and a pan-tilt video sender unit on top. The tripod doesn't completely eliminate wobble, but it is more resist...

I have friends that work in the business side of consumer electronics and export-import and they've explained the dismal translation situation to me like this: English translators in Asia in general are expensive to start with. The really good ones, like ones that can generate English we Westerners ...

Is it possible that the axle is what actually trips the microswitch on the older models? As I mentioned earlier the axle is grooved/knurled such that it's always going to maintain a grip on the wheel and rotate with it. You wouldn't rig up something like that if it didn't matter. As for encoder acce...

What does it do? That has been a topic of discussion several times for both the stationary front wheel and the swivel caster. Thoughts on it have ranged from wheel rotation counting for distance to behavioral changes when the roomba gets stuck. [...] In the diagnostics it is test 10 stassis and rec...

My question is what you did to reassemble the cam lobe on the end of the axle that operates the micro switch rotational sensor inside the wheel assembly. I don't see your treatment of that or picture showing it exposed. Ahh, I didn't know that was there. I'll have to have a look at it. Interestingl...

Nose wheel collapse: Solved!
I couldn't find the original thread I started for this, so I decided to start a new one here. Some of you may remember that a couple months ago I reported having problems with the nose wheel on my Discovery collapsing up into the chassis. The problem was that the axle on the nose wheel stuck out far...

A mutually beneficial arrangement
I got a Black and Decker rotary(i.e. Dremel-style) tool tonight and set about trying it out. I took some of the side-cutting and cutting disk bits to a Lexan disk I marked up a few months back for my Create, cutting out holes for standoffs and the I/O ports and buttons and such. I'm going to use the...

roadknightlabs, you might consider modding that Roomba and add a swivel front wheel. You can get the parts you need from Chris at his web site. How much of a tear-down job is this on a Discovery? I dismantled an old first-gen Roomba about a week or so ago and don't recall getting down to the front ...

Collapsed Front Wheel on Discovery
Hey all, I went to clean "Rosie", our Discovery, yesterday and found the front wheel to have "collapsed" up against the undercarriage. Normally, it bounces/flexes to help the 'bot get over threshholds, mouldings, carpet edges, etc. Now it appears to be well and truly stuck. I tri...
