Perfect, thanks for the quick reply! We are so damned in Europe - in my country, a 8xx lighthouse (older model, not the new square one running on AA) is sold for about $75/piece. The white ones can be found on european ebay for <$10. :D

If your 7XX or 8XX Roomba has the builtin RF module then the 5XX model Lighthouse accessory will work with it.

Scooba VW seems to have significantly wider "beam" (as well as larger halo diameter) than my two black newer lighthouses (set in VW mode) which came packaged with Roomba.
Also, my Roomba seems a bit confused when it encounters Scooba's VW: it spins in circles in one spot, then goes 2cm further and continues to rotate in place etc. - I have tried that in several settings, with the same result. Not sure if that's normal as it never did it around 'normal' VWs.
Yep. Just got a pair of Scooba VWs on eBay for $16 shipped. Same behavior from the Roombas... somehow magically even around corners. If Roomba gets too close to the Scooba VW, it sits and spins for a moment, as described above.
I'll try using tape (mentioned above) to see how that impacts the Roomba behavior. But I *did* get them to keep Scooba off the rug, so it's not that big of a deal. Now I wish my Roombas had RF for LH purposes... sounds cool. :)

I just spent a day trying to reset lighthouses around the house (as I keep them in wall mode) and get them to work with newly acquired Roomba 866. Apparently, the 866 doesn’t have RF :D took me a day to remember it LOL.

The old auto-on walls are nowhere to be found in Europe...if any pop out, they’re around €50 which is almost the cost of new dual-mode wall. I have two of them which I normally use with Scooba 450 so resetting paired them with 866.

Quick question - I bought one of these for a good price:

Not sure if it'll work for me though because none of my robots have wifi (all too old.) I sort of assumed this thing would have a "manual" mode, but it doesn't appear that it does. Is that accurate?

It requires an RF equipped Roomba to handshake with and activate the accessory. The Roomba and Lighthouse use Zigbee hardware.

Avast. Well, I bought my in-laws a newer robot for Christmas, maybe it'll work at their house. Dunno.

Avast! I got them an 805, which requires the one that looks like a coffee grinder. Wonder why they have so many variants. :/

Those won't work with 805 at all. Not even in the virtual wall mode (not the lighthouse mode), unfortunately.
e.g. they work with my 880 but not with 866.

A quick question: would they work with 980 or the 980 isn't RF equipped?

The 900 series as well as the i7 and e series do not have the RF Zigbee transceivers.
