Turning off when picked up

Hi everyone,

I just got my Roomba 770 yesterday and it's working great. I was just wondering if it was normal for the roomba to turn off when picked up from the dock. I can't find anything in the manual about it.

Also, for some reason, when I did a spot cleaning, it did it's normal outward spiral and then did the inward spiral in a different location. Is this normal? I've done spot cleanings before and I didn't have that problem.

The Clean button indicates the charging state when mounted on the home base. If the robot is lifted off of the base then the power is disconnected and the led will go off. Pressing the Clean button will turn it on.

You might try a system reset and then check the Spot mode again.

I have another question: I was watching roomba clean and I noticed that a few times it would head in a straight line toward a wall or something then just stop and change direction for no reason. Has this happened to anyone before? It only happened a few times so it's not a big problem but I want to make sure everything is okay.

That's normal movement for a Roomba. It will only travel a certain distance without being interrupted by a cliff or bumper sensor. If no sensor is triggered it changes direction. The downside is if there are no obstacles at all and the Roomba is in a very large room it will stop with the 11 beep error.

New question here. Today I've got my Roomba 630. I am really happy and excited. However, I am not sure if have to turn off the roomba every time it is connected to the home base (and fully charged) or I can just leave it with the green light on.

Just leave it alone. The Green color around the Clean button just indicates that the battery is receiving a trickle charge and the battery is at maximum voltage capacity. There are active circuits inside your Roomba that are ALWAYS on and cannot be turned off. If the Roomba is not on a cleaning mission then it should be on the charger at all other times unless you anticipate non-use for more than 10 days. In that situation it is best to remove the battery until your ready to run your Roomba.
