Roomba 4xxx - Separate Gearbox from Main Brush Motor

Hello all,

I purchased a replacement brush motor to fix a 'not spinning under load' issue. I did not realize, however, that it would not include the attached gearbox. The existing gearbox seems very securely attached though, possibly glued - is there a good way to separate these two?

Keith, there is a small plastic semi circular part that hides the two screws between the brush motor and the gear reduction gear box. Lift that part out using a small screwdriver or pocket knife blade.

That did the trick. There was still a bit of grease slathered in there so I did not even notice there was a seam there.

After taking it completely apart though, I noticed that one of the gears had a couple of broken teeth. I am thinking that this is the more likely cause of failure. Looks like I should have bought the gearbox and not the motor, but live and learn.
