Roomba 560 with Red CHM => AeroVac?

I have an older Roomba 560 with the red cleaning head module. We have two cats, so it basically has to be cleaned after every mission. Therefore, I was considering the AeroVac upgrade. However, according to the iRobot website, this requires the green CHM.

Can I:
1. Use the AeroVac kit with the Red CHM?
2. Upgrade my Red CHM to the Green CHM?

Any insight is appreciated.

The Aerovac bin will work with any CHM, Red, Black, Green, or Grey. The only one available for purchase now from the iRobot website is the Grey CHM. It is listed under the 700 Roomba accessories but will work with your 500 model.

The Grey CHM is the latest being sold and also installed in all 700 series Roombas. The Grey CHM has more changes to both the gear case and brushes in an attempt to resolve the entry of debris into the brush gear assembly. The changes are more effective in preventing damage to the internal brush gears but only slow down the entry of debris, not prevent it.

The Aerovac will improve the Roomba's effectiveness, but if you're having trouble with hair wound around the ends of the brushes, it won't help with that. As Vic said, it's completely independent of the CHM.
