I think I posted this option in the hacker forum a few months ago but here's a pic with price on the Amazon.com site.

This charger works with all Roomba and Scooba models except the Scooba 230.

Replacing U2/U4 can be cheaper than using an external charger if you can do the soldering or know someone who can. The main issue with not fixing U2/U4 is you can't keep your robot on a home base for too long if you want to schedule it.

If I look at the PWR+ charging brick I don't see a UL label on it. To me that is an issue, but that IMHO.

I am wondering if this could also handle the new Li-ion batteries. If it does, it would avoid the worry about damage to circuit board components.

I really don't know what LI-ion batteries your are bringing up in this thread. The LI-ion packs that I offer have their own built in (power control board) as well as a new proprietary cell balancer to boot and can be charged using any of the Roomba models as well as the Scooba 450.

The only batteries that caused early R2 Roombas to have MOSFET charging circuit failure were NiMH and NiCD packs with less than 9 volts stored within their cells. Not LI-ion packs.

Just came across this. So is this a thing now and it really works and is safe? A charger that will charge any roomba or Scooba battery? I have a Scooba and a roomba currently, and both have been in storage and will need new batteries. The roomba also needs repair. I'm in the market for a new roomba too, but was thinking about getting the same series for a battery to work on my broken one. But if this thing works, I could buy a newer roomba plus battery for my old one.... Especially since I'm buying off ebay and finding lots of good deals on working units with no chargers. (extremely limited income due to disability. Need the roombas for the same reason, no longer have assistance vacuuming).

I know this is a old thread, but it seems my 880 has bad charging circuit as new charger and batteries did not work. Has anyone tried this or am I on the wrong track?

The post is about a stand alone charging unit that can charge a 4xx-4xxx Roomba as well as a 5xx through 8xx Roomba and also a Scooba 3xx, 450 & 5xxx battery pack.

I understand that this is a stand alone charger. I now have 2 new and 1 original 880 battery. However I am fighting IRobot to get my 880 fixed as the internals are fried. If they don’t fix, this stand alone would be awesome.

So can anyone help, reviews, opinions, etc.

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

I use this charger. It will only charge one pack at a time.

Vic are you happy with the performance of the charger? Only one pack at a time is fine. Does it have charging algorithms that are decent? Doe you have NiMH/Lithium batteries?

The charger uses NiMH algorithms and I use it to charge my LI-NMC packs prior to installing or selling them.
