Scooba 450 won't start - pump, brush motor, vacuum working

Postby speedygonzales » May 4th, 2017, 5:22 am

Hello guys,

Got a problem with some 450, proceeded with the BiT tests, but I still got no idea what is going on, the pump, brush motor and vacuum seem to be working, but the robot stands in place and doesn't want to run forward or backward, checked the wheels and they are working perfectly fine, front caster wheel is clean.

Here I have also recorded some videos about it, any idea ? :thanks:

You will be able to gather more info about your 450 if you monitor the USB SCI output during a BiTs run. Additional clues might be presented via the text message test results of each BiT.

One test that may indicate an issue is the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that is reported during the Summary report.

lol, I just found a stripped 350 on ebay for $60 shipped. Install one refurb kit and this 350 will be good to go!

Hey guys

I run robotic vacuum service center. I've tried to convince my client to buy the 390 ( since it's the best "wet" robotic cleaner ), but he was so headstrong to buy used 450 from some random guy and he did it. After two weeks of functioning the 450 stopped working and he came to me saying " :help: " :D

I a case like the IMU failing, it might be a simple fix by cleaning the circuit board or at worse case, replacing the board.

I have managed to get to the mobo ( it was a pain in the #ss , literally ), now there is something holding the mobo from the bottom, that I can exactly localize, or get to, anyone may have idea what is it, some connector, a screw ?

Something in the highlighted area

Scooba 450 seems pretty problematic. I didn't have pleasant experience with it and had to return it. It constantly bumped into obstacles, missed spots and the vacuuming power was weak. I bought the Roomba 650 instead and I like it very much.

I have had two fairly problem free scoobas. I find a microfiber mop takes less total time and does a better job. Scoobas are retired.

Microfiber mopping is great only when the floor has been thoroughly swept. A robot vacuum is a great way to thoroughly sweep the floor before mopping. The iRobot Braava will run a microfiber cloth around the room for the disabled or super lazy. (I'm lazy, but not so lazy I can't spend literally 2 minutes mopping)

Hello,
Did you solve the problem?

If so what caused the lack of movement scooba 450?

Hello,
In my case, they turn on (vacuum cleaner, pump, brush)
But he does not go.

If I touch the bumper it goes backwards.

BIT - it comes out that is all OK

Several times it happened that she drove a few meters straight and just stopped.

The 390 just pushes dirty water all over the floor. It's like using a sponge on your floor without ever rinsing it plus it's not antibacterial. Bring back the real mops that take cute dirty water off the floor with fresh water, scrub the floor and swuegeevit dry!

Hi speedygonzales

Have you finally been able to resolve the issue? I have exactly the same problem as you have with my Scooba 450. I'm curious how you handled it.

Kind regards
