Roomba 980 Floor sensor

We have recently bought a Roomba 980 (we've had it 3 days) and already it seems to not be able to detect hard-floors vs carpet. The first day it was fine and worked correctly but now it seems to be on carpet mode (high suction) all the time.

The manual is pretty light on what you need to do. It says just rub a light cloth over the sensor. Well, needless to say we've done that. Anything else we can try ? What type of sensor is it ? The sensor is sort in a finger sized hole - what's at the bottom of the hole ?

Any help would be appreciated,

Firmware 1.4.6 addressed the carpet sensor issue. What firmware release is your 980 running?

Hi,
I have used the roomba 980 for about 2 months and now I have the same problem.
I have tried to clean all sensors and nothing helps.

Would also appreciate help :)

Thank you for your reply. The App tells us that the Robot software is up-to-date and running V2.2.11-4 which was installed on August 26th.

BTW, I forgot to post that the carpet sensor is an optical sensor.
