Irobot's stock has plummeted almost 15% with news of Shark's new robot vacuum line. They are already on sale, I believe. It appears that they are attempting to introduce similar features to the lower end Roombas at a lower price. The vacuums do have wifi, but it appears that their navigation technology is more similar to the low end Roombas than to the high-end models. Shark is a well known brand and could pose serious competition to Irobot:https://www.sharkclean.com/vacuums/shark-ion-robot-vacuum-series/

It's also a bounce bot.
I mean, sure, this might hurt some of the low-end iRobot 6xx kind of sales, but this doesn't seem remotely competitive with iRobot's 900 series or anything in the Neato lineup.

I also forgot to mention that on all iRobot Roombas the Open Interface is still supported and the Built in Tests are still present as well. In the land of troubleshooting iRobot stands high.

Don't forget modularity, repairability. I would love real competition with roomba on quality, price and features. A lot of the most popular non-roomba robovacs don't let you even easily replace the battery which is the shortest lived part of just about any device they are in. Roomba does everything well except price :/
