Broken Scooba tank latches

Postby poconogal » January 2nd, 2018, 7:05 pm

The tanks to my Scoobas are sitting on my table. I purchased two new latches. I took the two screws out of the latch that is currently on a tank and cannot figure out how to get the latch off so I can put the new one on. I have seen pictures on the process but the pictures are not really telling me anything. Is there a video hiding somewhere that shows the removal of the tank latch? The seller, who is a member of this forum, tried to explain how it’s done but I either don’t understand or I don’t possess the strength. Perhaps someone can explain more clearly?

Being 76 and arthritic, I don't attempt replacing the tank latch. I just buy replacement tanks or complete Scoobas on ebay or Amazon.

Thanks Vic. I am now leaning towards returning the latches and buying at least one tank. The tank from the 5900 worked perfectly in my 380 yesterday so I have one up and running. If I can get the other one up and running I’ll be a happy camper. It just seemed more economical to replace the latches but if I can’t get the latch off it’s useless.

I managed to get the two broken latches off of my two tanks. After I got the first one off, the second one came off much easier because I knew just where to push with a little screwdriver to have the latch pop right off. It was a little trickier getting the new latches on but I managed to get that done.

I also managed to get my old Roomba 560 that I haven’t used in about five years running today. Next up is getting my dirt dog running again and the 535 that was spinning in circles fixed.
