Roomba 690 not updating

Postby Kingeuygn » January 21st, 2018, 9:00 pm

Hi guys,
Got a 690 for Christmas and it works great. It’s running FW version 3.1.0 +16. It constantly tries to do an update but constantly fails. I’ve tried like 20 times now. It also does a full clean, returns to base, and then notifies me that the job has been cancelled, not completed. Any ideas?

I’ve contacted customer support via email but no reply yet. I live outside the US.

Roomba 690 not updating

Postby b55er » January 27th, 2018, 12:59 pm

Two days ago also got the 690 with the same firmware.

Same symptoms as yours, but in California.

- update shows available, but never updates
- did finish cleaning, returned to base but the app shows canceled and not completed
- app always says charging, never charge completed. Battery icon never full.

Called Roomba CS, told to keep on the charger for 16 hours. Did that, battery level never fully charged, firmware never updated.

Going back in the box to Amazon...

Have either of you found a fix for this issue yet? I purchased the same model one week ago and am having the exact same problems. Cleans each day but says the job was cancelled. Tells me there is a software update but fails to update each time.

Unfortunately, my fix was to put it back in the box and drop it off at UPS for return to Amazon.

Here's how I got my 690 to update the firmware to 3.2.10+32

First remove the battery pack then install it back into your 690. Next, use your app to remove the 690 then re-install your 690 on your WiFi and app. Then send your 690 on a cleaning mission. When the mission is completed, and the 690 has docked, updating the firmware will happen when the iRobot server accesses your 690. This is usually within 24 hours.

I had the same problem updating error. Move the Roomba closer to the 2.4 GHz Wifi router. Nothing.
I must have tried 10 times to queue an update. I was about to watch packet exchanges on my home router, thinking Verizon FIOS was sabotaging the software update's downloading connection.
I had to run a clean job in the meantime. Came back. Darn thing updated on its own after completing a full cycle.

Sorry I couldn't go as far vic7767 did. I was looking forward to doing annoyingly enjoyable internet tests.
