980 Latest Update

Postby GSRtrent » June 28th, 2018, 10:22 am

I just bought a 980 the other day and it's on firmware 2.2.10-1. It says it has an update available so I go and request the update but after almost 2 days the robot has not updated. No error message. Server status is OK. -24 wifi strength on a dedicated 2.4ghz signal on my ASUS RT-AC5300 router. Removed the robot and re-added it. Restarted the robot, restarted the router. Nothing yet. Not sure why it won't update? Anything else I can try?

Thanks! Other than that this little robot (Bob) keeps finding pet hair after it looks like its cleaned everything lol Very impressed.

I went through the same process once on my 980 with the same result. I sent it on a cleaning run and after running and docking it finally updated. Your 980 may either have a defective WiFi module, a possible protocol conflict with your ISP or possibly your 980 is in a queue for updating via the iRobot server and will eventually update.

Thanks for the response. I moved the router a bit closer to the robot (although the wifi strength didn't change), removed and re-added the robot back to the app and went to work. While I was at work it did a cleaning job and when it docked it updated. So more than likely was just in queue for the update?

That is my suspicion. Seems that handshaking and cleaning stats may be sent to the iRobot server that then updates pending firmware on your Roomba.
