i7+ trap work around?

Postby Stevew5505 » October 18th, 2018, 5:40 pm

Just got our first Roomba, an i7+, and our house seems to have an effective roomba trap built in. We have a walk in shower with 2 entrances. Each has about a 2 inch drop as you enter the shower. Tile before the drop off matches the tile after. Walter (our roomba) apparently ain’t skeered of the drop off enough to trigger the cliff avoidance feature, but once inside the shower, ping-pongs around inside until he’s exhausted and faints. Will he eventually wise up? Since there is only one invisible wall thingy, and my wife hates little electronic doodads lurking around the entrance to her shower anyway, is there a way to educate Walter without modifying the drop off?

Thanks.

A second virtual wall is needed. These are very low voltage accessories (3 volts dc) no electrical shock.

can you make the shower a "room" in the app and just program it not to do that room?

First, the i7 would need to create an image of the area. Issue being the robot can't navigate the area which means the map will not be created. Possibly eliminate the drop-off temporarily by building up the area so the i7 can navigate the area and create the room map.
