Roomba 880 charging contacts

Postby Steverino68 » January 6th, 2019, 1:28 pm

Our 880 has been a really good unit - it has reliably run daily for 5 full years (minimum of 1 hour per day - and more on days when it doesn't find the dock) with only battery, brush, and filter changes.

The only real issue is that the spring-loaded contacts on the base station failed at some point, leaving the contacts too low and not springy. I did eventually fix that, but the metal contact plates on the Roomba are showing wear (one more than the other). I think this was partially due to not having a good connection and some minor sparking that may have eaten away at the finish.

Are the Roomba contact plates replaceable? Anybody done this, and if so do you have any tips and/or good parts sources?

Thanks!
