980 with an error 14

Just picked up a used 980 with an error 14 - replace bin and restart. Checked the mounts and one of the contacts is broken. Any easy way to fix this without disassembling?
I put in a piece of rolled up aluminum foil and everything works fine, but would like to make permanent repair.

Conductive silver-filled epoxy might work to attach a replacement contact. It is expensive (e.g. $13 for 2.5g on Amazon) but can fix things that are impossible to solder.

I'm going to first try shaping a piece of can metal to clamp over the existing stub.
This is a $25 Craigslist Roomba (including dock). :)
Challenged to keep it cheap as possible.

Edit: Fashioned a piece of metal to slide over the stub and into the end slot. Works fine.

When that fails :( try gluing the piece of can metal to the stub with conductive silver-filled epoxy. I wouldn't use the epoxy as the contact itself.

BTW: I have found some companies that sell conductive silver-filled epoxy and conductive paints that will send a free sample on request. You might look around and ask. Free is about as cheap as possible as you can get. :)
I might have the URL of one such company you could start with, but I will have to look.

It is in the end slot under tension, so I don't think it can come out. Cut out the top of a canning jar lid. Surprised that it was so simple and functions like original.

What a steal for $25. Thought I got a great deal for my 980 @ $60 shipped.

I would take another one for $60. :D
My 980 was on Craigslist 100 miles away and showing only a blurred photo and no description. Had to match photo on eBay to even know what it was. Just took the gamble and went.
My previous best buy was a clean 665 for $36 shipped.

My best was an 805 that I won for $32 shipped, arrived and the shipping on the label was $34.XX. I felt bad they had to PAY to send it to me, but they should have had their shipping costs figured out before they listed it.

I know how you feel, but eBay is eBay.

(I did use $10 worth of gas in my Hybrid to retrieve the 980).
