My neighbor bought a used 791 on Ebay for $200 and it travels in kind of a circle before showing Error 5. The right drive wheel turns freely and is not jammed. Anyone know a likely cause?

err 5 indicates an overcurrent issue with one or both wheels. If the right wheel has no resistance, how about the left?

I recommend he return it if possible.
Had the same problem with a 650.
Had to replace the mother board.

Thanks for the responses! Both wheels turn freely and I'll see if she wants or can return it.

Is there a test procedure that can be performed?

There is a test procedure that can be performed by downloading a pdf document from this URL:

http://choisirsonaspirateur.info/wp-con ... Manual.pdf

It is titled Roomba 500 Series Service Manual. Use caution when using the MANUAL tests, don't use the AUTO tests at all. Remember that all safe guards are turned off during these tests.
