Roomba 6xx Brush Gear Box

Postby geekgranny » May 29th, 2019, 4:20 pm

Hello all. It has been many years since I've been on forum. Anyone who remembers me will remember I had an army of Roombas and Scoobas for my extremely challenging home environment. The last army of Roombas was the 5xx series. I am now living in Mexico in a Tiny space. When I moved I gifted my Roombas to friends. Now I have a friend here who wants to purchase a Roomba and asked for advice. She can get a 690 for a reasonable price at a local department store. When I was using the Roombas, in my challenging environment, dusty and lots of dog hair from a large pack of country GIANT house dogs, I had to clean the 5xx brush gear boxes out about once a month. Is there any improvement in how the 6xx handles dog hair and dust? My friend has 8 dogs and our environment is similar to what I had in Texas, with the added addition of sticky sea air. Thanks in advance for help. Howdy old friends too.

Howdy. The 690 CHM is better than the earlier 500 model Roombas. The 690 actually uses the 700 model universal CHM that will fit all 500, 500, 700, & 800 mode Roombas.

The 700 CHM can be improved by the addition of two sealed bearings that turn the two cleaning brushes within the brush deck.

Thanks Vic. Great to see you are still here. I'm in Mexico, now. I had the big house with all the Mastiffs, about 10 most of the time I was on forum. Remeber your dog(s) and all the vital information you provided. I never did the sealed bearings on my 500, btw.. I can't remember, but, is that something I can do for my friend. Thanks. Be well.
