I'm so glad I finally found a knowledgable community.
I bought an old 530 with no battery.
I have a 700 which works fine and is in daily use.
I put the 700's battery in the 500. It runs for a few seconds then turns red and says "charging error 2".
No idea what this means, or why it would have problems with a known good battery.
Anyone know what I need to prod with a multimeter to check things?

Re: [Roomba 530] Charging error 2 when not charging
vic7767 said this in a past post talking about the error. "Charging error 2 is triggered when the charging current is over 1250 ma. You might try replacing the power supply. Replacing the battery with an iRobot battery will not be the solution. Any replacement battery will do." I've never encountered this error so I don't know much about it. He also said, "Other things are going on if you are getting a charging error 2 with no power supply connected. There may be a defective component on the circuit board causing a false reading. Possibly replace the board or get a replacement model." Heres the link to the post. http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewto ... =1&t=18736
