Bumper Guard?

Postby rstark18 » September 17th, 2011, 2:14 pm

I had a 1in strip of velcro (soft side) around the bumper of my Roomba to prevent it from scratching up furniture. Even thought the Neato is MUCH better at navigating it still will occasionally bump into things. I was thinking I would do the same velcro type bumper guard on the XV-11. Has anyone else done this yet?

No one has posted that mod or pictures yet. Try it out on your Neato and post back with your results and pictures if possible.

I did that, and he now not work as supported - constantly bump into wall in the "edge mode" :?

I asked about distance from the edge manual adjustment, but don't found it in 2.0 and/or 2.1 SW update :(

Are you sure the bumping isn't from 2.1? I definitely had that problem with 2.1 and mostly resolved it by going to 2.0

It may be the result of the bumper guard material being too thick during the wall follow program and that may cause the bumper to come into contact with the wall.

Exactly. It is 4mm (~0.16in) thick.

I used velcro for the corner and sides of the bumper as it has a tendency to follow very close to objects, sometimes scratching itself against the edge of my cupboard.

Pretty well. Its been there since day 1 (more than half a year)! Its a self-adhesive sheet of velcro (A4 sized if i'm not mistaken) which i've cut to size. IMO, the green goes well with XV-11's body colour. :D
