Battery Run-times?

Hello, I'm a new owner of an XV-12. What are your average run-times on carpet and hardwood floors?

I'm happy so far with it, it works great, firmware is updated to 2.6 (came with 2.1) Have had it approximately 6 weeks, I've been tracking the run-time before it heads to the base to charge itself.

On a full charge;
-On carpet (medium height) I get about 38 minutes of run-time.
-On hardwood I get about 46 minutes of run-time.

It's been used about 4 times a week for 6 weeks.

Is this what the rest of you get?

The specs say 95 minutes of run-time. I seem far short of that, & reading some other posts on another website say they are getting 60-90 minutes.

btw I've had one RPS error last week, but I shut it down and rebooted it and it's worked fine since, I clean the beater every week and dust the unit a bit here and there. (btw, the dust bin is emptied after every run)

My average is right at 60 minutes as well. That is running on a combination of some hardwood, area rugs and carpet.

Mine cleans the house in about 50 minutes. The light is still green when it heads back to the base. I've been running for about 8 months, three times a week.

it was 75 min at the beginning, now varies between 55-65, 2 months of use 2 times a week. (wouldnt it be nice to have a mileage counter in it, it is easy to implement it think).

Not only the carpets but obstacles also effect the battery duration, recovery maneuvers eats batteries.

Another point, is it finishing home in 1 run or two? second run sometimes takes just 10-15 min then returns to base and starts charging the almost 2/3 full battery, this ruin full charge-full discharge cycle which is important for ni-mh batteries.

I have an XV-12, version 2.6 . Cleans all of downstairs on one charge 75 - 80 mins. Both carpet and tile.

Hmmm.... That is what I thought, gonna call Neato Support. I've never gotta anywhere near what you guys are getting from out of the box until now. It averages between 35-46 minutes. I've timed it from the time I press the button until it starts heading back to the charging station. The longest runtime ever was 48 minutes, on mostly hardwood/tile floors, and few obstacles. It takes 3-4 runs to clean my home (kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, I start it at 9am and have come home around 2pm to check on it, and it's still in "cleaning house" mode, either on the charger or cleaning away.

I've stuck it in my bedroom, closed the door and it takes 2 runs to complete just that room. (which is bedroom, attached bathroom, and walk-in closet. Runtime is about 40 minutes in that room on a fresh charge.)

did you check status of batteries? your runtimes appear almost half of normal durations. may be one of them is not functioning? dont know if neato can understand if no power comes from one of batteries..

It is possible that one of the two battery pack connectors is not mating correctly. Double check that both packs connectors are seated properly.

Well Neato Support wanted me to shutdown the unit, wait 5 minutes, then boot it back up and take the charger and plug it directly into the neato unit, then retest it after a full charge. (Also, I took the liberty of checking both batteries and disconnecting/reconnecting them while it was shutdown to make sure they were firmly plugged in.) They said it could either be the charger or the batteries, and that I should be getting longer runtimes. They were nice and helpful on the phone, and I was able to get through to someone who spoke English within 1 minute which was nice.

Personally I have a feeling I got crappy batteries with the unit.

I'll retest it tonight and see how it goes.

It usually took 60 minutes to clean 50 square meters of floor, covered with 90% of carpet and 10% with parquet.

Well after the re-test, it lasted 37 minutes 26 seconds... so I called Neato Support again and they are sending me some new batteries. I will update everyone after I try the new batteries. Once again Neato support answered the phone right away and was very pleasant to speak with.

Well I received my new set of batteries from Neato, hooked them up, and after a full charge I once again timed the cleaning run-time. It lasted 35 minutes before having to go back to the charging base. So it seems the new batteries made no difference. Callled Neato Support again and they are sending me a replacement XV-12.

Other than the runtime, the unit works great. It docks everytime, successfully navigates my house, doesn't get stuck, and picks up dirt.

Does it finished the whole area in that specific time? I think you got it wrong as Neato does not use the full capacity of the battery if the house is small, it simply return to base or starting point if the whole area is covered.

Well I received the new unit yesterday, charged it up and once again timed the runtime. It lasted 38 minutes.... before heading back to the base to recharge No better than my other unit. and yes, in regards to the last post, my floorplan is larger and it's takes neato multiple charges to finish it in one cleaning. It simply cannot last longer than 40 minutes in a single run...

So... now what? I noticed the first time I charged it on this new unit, it only took 15 minutes of charging time and then the light went a solid green. I still left it on the charger for 6+ hours just in case. Does Neato ship this unit with the batteries nearly full?

I'm going to test some more and time a few more runs and also time the charging time after a full depletion.

It normally takes 4 to 5 discharge/charge cycles before the battery pack pair will be at peak capacity.

Under the Support menu there's a selection for New Battery. Might that help?

I am facing the same problem with my new neato, it lasted only 40mins on hard wood and sometimes it would just die in front of the base on it's way back to recharge. I have try the new battery option but it does not seems to work?
Any advise?

You should not be trying the "new battery" option with a new neato. The new unit needs time to "break in" the battery and reach an optimal level.

i am also having the same problem, brand new neato xv21 and full charge (overnight) and on its first ever run the robot lasted 30 mins before heading for a recharge.

Seems we all have problems with neato xv21 batteries here...
