pet brush bar mod

Postby a4refillpad » April 1st, 2013, 10:06 pm

Originally I wanted to try and create a "vane only" pet brush bar from two bars, as I missed the maintenance free aspect of the original neato bar (but not the noise). Anyway, unfortunately that did not work as the vanes have a thicker base which makes it very difficult to attach to the slots occupied by the brushes.
Anyway instead I've created a "brush only" pet brush.

I don't think anyone else has mentioned trying this. I will update on how this performs.

silicon sealer glue or caulk in the oversize slots -- if can get it in. someone did this with the aluminum beater installing felt vanes for noise. But what do you use for extra pet brush vanes? parts of a 2nd brush? what about the older brush vanes, useful size?
This is a mod I forgot about, thanks for reminding. Adding to list at http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=16475

Forgot to to update. My findings with the "all bristle" bar was that the bot was more reliable at picking up hair and fluff than before. On my neato this meant more hair cleaning on the brush bar. On the VR100, no evidence of extra cleaning required, likely due to it's slightly higher airflow.
However, I did notice slightly less content in the bins compared to before so I have reverted to using combination pet brushes. I suspect the vanes would "beat" the carpet more than the bristles do alone to help lift more dust into the air to be absorbed by the suction.
Anyway, I believe the mod would be useful for anyone having unsatisfactory results picking up hair and possibly fur from carpet. Also I noticed that the "bristle only" bar left my medium pile wool carpet a little more softer and "fluffly" after a run.
