Here is how someone wired the RX/TX on an XV11 ... I'm wondering if this works on all XVs, I have a 14 and 21.

Neatorobotics provided the serial port on their early XV-11 models only. The port was discontinued on all later models.

The serial port returned on the Botvac on a corner edge connector http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19557&hilit=Botvac+serial

ah shoot ... I completely took my XV apart and indeed it was a different layout and was unable to find the correct pins.

The old Rev113 Cruz system board with side charging jack had the unpopulated serial port header.
The newer Rev64 Binky board, with new processor and without charging jack, eliminated the header so USB interfaces must be used. A number of projects with USB host adapters are listed in Mods & Repairs list top of main forum page. I wonder about these OTG cables with built-in host adapters. You cannot load drivers into the Neato system. It depends on what is wanted from the interface. Micro WiFi routers for Notebooks have been used.

Success!

I was able to directly connect D-/D+/GND/GPIO to the usb port on the XV and enable/disable power in order to kill the USB connection. I can now do a clean, set the GPIO, and it is on it's way, without needing a relay.

I also found a 3.3V in the XV to power the Omega2+ in the ribbon cable to the LCD. I was worried that it would turn off when the LCD times out, but appears to be constant voltage.

The Omega2+ is now powered by and controlling XV. Any suggestions for soldering on the wires to the XV? I'm using the USB plug now, and saw that some folks where soldering onto the "top" of the board, but not sure how to find the right points. I'm thinking to flip it over and solder onto the back of the board were I'm more confident about which pin is which.

P2 or P3 connectors is UART, as was reported. Perhaps it will help in your project.

I've been working for the last month or so on a similair task with my Neato 80 to expand its once a day schedule. I've come a long way and I wanted to pass out some info, and give away several modules for folks to use with their 70-85's. I've gone away from a simple console interface, and have actually created a site that captures statistics about the Neato, and allows you to schedule cleaning events to your hearts content. The site is https://www.neatoscheduler.com. I have put up several detailed videos from wiring the 8266, to programming it, and also website account creation and list of features.

If you're interested in a free module, pm me with your name and address. I have 9 as it stands right now, but will be making more later. If you're interested in viewing the source, it can be found here: https://github.com/HawtDogFlvrWtr/botvac-wifi

If you already have an 8266 in your Neato and want to attach it to the site, you should just follow video 1 to reprogram it with my sketch. It will automatically start talking to the site and as soon as you create an account.

Video 3 - Website details

Figured i'd share, in case someone was interested.
