When Neato Robotics supplied online updates the last update for rev113 Cruz system boards was v3.1. Supposedly v3.2 and later incompatible with older cpu. So be careful of damaging older systems with wrong firmware.
v3.1 introduced "corner clever" behavior so has all but minor tweaks. [spelling corrected -- clever not cleaver]

Vorwerk clearly made a v3.2 for their rev 113 based vr100 model as I used the automatic update option and didn't force anything. :)

I have an old XV-11 Im restoring which is stuck on FW2.6.

Never mind, I figured out a much better way and wrote a guide:

I agree, this is a much better/easier way than I ended up doing. Long story short, I pulled the files of Vorwerk's website manually and found the password for the ZIP files. Then I used the same method for offline firmware flashing that heXor originally posted to his Bitbucket with the .enc firmware files provided by Vorwerk.

In case anyone's interested, I posted the necessary files for Rev 113/Cruz to my Github here: https://github.com/NoahJaehnert/Neato-X ... 113-Update. Using these, I now have a fully functioning Neato XV-21 with the following firmware versions:

SW 3.2.18755
LDS V2.6.15295
Board Rev 113

You're a brave man, I'm used to flashing micro controllers but I wasn't keen to brick my xv11. :p

So the gist of all this 3.4 upgrade is not to risk it unless something is really wrong with your XV that can't be fixed with spare parts and/or tools? :naughty:

And I take it that apart from reading FW 3.4 on the LCD and maybe over-cautious battery usage, you can't really tell by it's cleaning/navigation behaviour that an XV is running v3.1 or v3.4?
#1 Neato XV-11 SW 2.0 Board Rev 113 / 4400mAh Lithium Power battery installed Jan 2018 / Pet & Allergy pack installed Sept 2013. In July 2014, received and repaired a faulty #2 Neato XV-11, running Lithium Power 4400mAh battery since July 2015

Vorwerk's 3.2 software appears to be the last version for the rev 113 "cruz" boards and 3.4 seems to be the last version for the rev 64 "binky" boards.

Personally I prefer to have the latest version of software on my gear just because there's usually less bugs in the final release.

The Vorwerk update method is also far superior to Neato's clumsy updater imo and unlikely to brick your bot. I'd love to know why Neato never used the Vorwerk software?

Medtech: there is a single zip file at the link in djos' Guide post linked above, with all the files listed in the post. In those unzipped are the .enc firmware code files for all the firmware versions for the rev113 Cruz old system boards through the last apparently 3.2, with all the related files for the Neato Upgrader method instead of the Vorwerk method. There are different files for the newer rev64 Binky system boards, in my earlier post.

So far the Botvac models do not have any firmware updates created by the NeatoRobotics engineers.

Hey guys,

I found a great instruction posted on 6th page on how to update a neato xv with board ver 64 to 3.4. But the question is if it fits all XV series robots? Mine is xv signature and I just want to be sure that I won't kill it by updating.

As longs as it's a rev 64 board, you're good to go.

Yes, it's board 64.
Thanks, gonna give it a try.
Not sure about profit (apart from making it return to the base earlier) , but hopefully they also made some algorithms improvements.

Many posters say that 3.2 was a better performer than going to 3.4

I guess it's mostly because of shorter cleaning cycle due to earlier base return, no?
Or you think something else has changed?

Early return to base is often due to aging of the battery pack pair. Replace with a new pair for increased run time that will be similar to what your Neato did when the OEM packs were new.
