Neato XV vs Botvac comparison, corners and walls (blade bru

Postby chris-s » October 1st, 2014, 2:49 pm

Hi all !

My new Botvac arrived yesterday at home, replacing an XV-15 8)

This angle was vaccumed once a week by my XV, but never with a regular vaccum during last 2 years.

Do you think that rotative side brush is useless on carpet ?
I don't ;)

Enjoy !

Magnifique!

The newest Vorwerk VR200 has the brush in front of the corner, so might get that last bit left. Not available outside Europe or Vorwerk's limited distribution network. And several times the cost of Neato's.

It does an impressive near-edge clean even without the side brush ... and on carpet!

Yes, the VR200 will have better corner covering, but less efficiency around furniture leg.

I should have asked how do we know it is the side brush instead of the enhanced main brush closer to the wall on the BotVac, given carpet is involved?

The video showed two passes - first without the side brush and then with the side brush. It seemed clear that the pass without the side brush got closer to the wall than the XV series, but still not all the way to the wall. The subsequent pass with the side brush clearly covered the small gap between the vacuum's built-in brush and the wall.

I have previously explained backscatter as result of brush shape and position behind the intake. Gotten by front next run.

As a coffee fan, I'm not sure I approve of this test and the rather upsetting images. Next time could you perhaps try sawdust or dried parsley flakes? :)

No bother, was only Decaf.
A mix of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Buy bots at Scarborough fair.
Coffee shows well in photos. Maybe Tea, Earl Gray, not hot.
Also concern the delicate side brush gets messed up running on grabbing carpet.
