What could this noise be and how do I stop it?

There are several different things which can be rubbing, in case of a defect, as well as scraping over the floor -- all making somewhat similar noises. You have to investigate, Sherlock Holmes fashion, to check different possibilities.
Easiest is running on a carpet to check for scraping the floor.
Turn it off and place upside down, and manually move the rollers and drive wheels and brush, see if anything can be felt. Check the rollers turn freely so don't scrape the floor.

Perhaps the squeegee strip is making noise on the floor. Try pushing the robot by hand on the floor to duplicate the noise.

The more difficult test is operating the motors separately with USB control, Neato Control Program or terminal emulator (command manual link top of main forum page). The robot must be mounted on blocks under the suspension arm so the arm is depressed as it would be resting on the floor, with the wheels free to turn (there is a sensor on the wheel extension to detect picking up off the floor, "put me down" complaints displayed). You could try to see if some motor is scraping internally, or if there is a defect inside the gears of drive wheels.
The XV models could have drive wheels scraping the sides of the battery compartment, but not so much Botvac.
Check the bearing on the brush. You have the "D" improved mounting bushing? Check for debris.
Debris in the brush drive belt requires disassembling the unit to access the mechanism.

Metal gears in the drive wheel assembly can make noise and might need some silicone grease lube left out in manufacture. Just a little. Removing drive assembly on Botvac requires complete disassembly, unlike the XV -- new modular assembly, wheels at the bottom under everything else. Links to video etc. in Mods & Repairs list main forum page.

Hi
It is the rubber on the brush guard that make that sound.
Have that on my conected to.

I was looking at a Botvac 85 and that is a softer rubber on that brush guard and it is much quieter.
I don´t know why Neato have that rubber on the Connected version?

Replacements for that strip are sold along with replacement vanes for the brushes. It is probably silicone rubber. I would expect folded over duct tape could work up a substitute. Put in a string for a bulge fitting the slot. I would be concerned scraping a wood floor noisily could damage the finish over time.
I think this is the second report posted of that strip defect on Connected. Putting in Mods & Repairs list.

[edit] Maybe the company thought they were increasing durability of the strip, reducing periodic replacement. They have messed up little details before, like the original bearing on the Botvac brush. Their German Vorwerk partners seem to be more exacting, but don't distribute in the U.S.

I bought a replacement strip and it's running with no squeaking. Thanks for the advice!

That's odd. It appears that this forum we are on adds the link automatically based on keywords found in postings. It seems that the forum is the one that added the link to roomba.
