I have a neato D series that started stopping short of the charger while it was cleaning. Now it is coming off the charger about 6 inchs running the fans a couple of cycles then quiting. It is not giving any codes or error messages. Does anyone know what might be the solution?
I looked on the bottom for the model but it just says D series. It does not have wifi or anything like that. I want to say it is an 80 or 85 but that could be wrong.
I reset it a few times with the switch in the dust bin and that did not help. I looked to make sure the laser was spinning and it was. The brush and wheels don't seem to be stuck. You can bump it while it is spinning up and it will move back. I don't know what is wrong with it.
Neato D series issue
Re: Neato D series issue
This is most likely caused by a bad battery. You can purchase a new battery from Amazon. I recommend watching a video explaining how to replace a battery on a d80/85 because the "new battery" button is a bit complicated.fred633 wrote:I have a neato D series that started stopping short of the charger while it was cleaning. I don't know how to fully explain it here but there may be another forum post on it.

Re: Neato D series issue
I put a new battery in it the first of december.
For some reason I always have issues after the orginal battery dies. I had nothing but issues after the one in my XV died and now with this one.

Re: Neato D series issue
when you put a new battery in do you use the "new battery" function because that would help calibrate the NI-MH battery.

Re: Neato D series issue
ok, so if the battery is being used correctly, something is not right. Do you put the correct type of battery in because the D80/85 uses a (Green) NI-MH battery and the Botvac Connected started using a (black) Li-Ion battery? Also, try putting the old battery back in and testing to see if it will run longer. The batteries also just die over time. I left an XV with brand new batteries inside of it, when I came back they were completely dead and the plastic rapping on them was damaged from heat. I'm not the best with the software side of Neato's so you would have to find and expert on that. There might be one here, just try looking though old forums.

Re: Neato D series issue
I ordered another set of the green batteries and it does the same thing. It moves out about 6 inches and runs the fans a few times then acts like it is completed. No error message or anything. I think it is a software problem.
Re: Neato D series issue
cleaned the lazer and spun it like in this video
and it cleaned about half a room before doing the same thing.

What does the battery indicator show after short start-stop? Still green (full/100%)?fred633 wrote:I ordered another set of the green batteries and it does the same thing. Sometimes dirty dirt bin button may produce anomalies like this. Tape it down and test. If problem disappears, then you need to open your robot and clean dirt bin button contact pads.
