Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean - rival of LG Hom-Bot 3.0?

Samsung show us new addition to its current robotic vacuum line - the Smart Tango Corner Clean, model SR10F71U. Moreover, new model has the ability to control him over your smartphone. No words on pricing or availability. More on CES 2013 in Las Vegas.

Now on sale on ebay already. Quite expensive considering lack of self emptying bin like it's predecessor. But very attractive with the new corner brushes. Specs seem to indicate the return of the hepa filter missing from the 8980.

.... it makes that other tango bot look positively ancient. That corner sweeping is very impressive and looks amazing for kitchens and those with hardwood flooring. From what I've seen it beats the LG easily for corners.

Yes it does all look very smart, clever and innovative: But as usual with virtually all Samsung products (at least the 5 I own), it seems to me to be yet another triumph of form over function: It still doesn't suck, and still has a bin the size of a matchbox... which kinda misses the point for a vacuum cleaner, doesn't it?

not great on carpet but mine is a fantastic resident in the kitchen, picking up crumbs right up to edges to the plinths. Cannot clean corners as well as this though. Big bins are unnecessary on hard floors and I find emptying once a week with the hauzen running multiple times a day more than sufficient.

I must agree with you. However, Samsung bots (especially SR87XX and SR88XX) looks impressive about its image and quality, they still don't 'hide its power', because they lack! Another thing is why new owners - having the possibility to choose - still more often take SR88XX over SR89XX

In my opinion, models SR89XX without dustbin-eptying function (SR8980) must be uncomfortable in typical houses/apartments - although you empty it as frequent as once or twice per day.

I notice that my SR8895 performs brilliant on area carpet, so I don't know why your don't. First series of Navibot had defective wiper - perhaps because of it. Or maybe you put it on mission too rare? Try "Max" mode or let it work 2-3 times per day or so often as needed to get the desired effect.

If you vacuum your floors frequently and empty it after every cycle, then the 0.3 litre dustbin may be sufficient, but in my two-story house it would not be. At least, the 0.6 litre dustbin of my current Navibot is emptied only once.

I have a gen3 hauzen it is not great on carpet as its primarily designed for hard floors. I previously had a gen 4 navibot but got rid of it due to the small brush and frustration at how it did not like approaching edges. I also had lots of issues with it running out of memory and restarting towards the end of the run but that maybe down to bad luck.
I am very happy with my hauzen as it is very pretty and has a large brush and follows walls and curves like the gen5s and very rarely gets lost.
TBH I'm a big fan of Samsung's and cannot understand why people without pets would run out of space in their dirt bin for hard floors. I have a 300m2 floorplan and run everyday and apart from dust and small amounts of grit and dirt it gets nowhere near full.
Call me superficial but the Samsung range of robots are beautiful.
Given the chance would love to add the corner clever model to my collection.

Updated gen 4 (e.g. SR8895) resolved all problems which you described (memory lost, wall follow, etc.). Before I had SR8855 and replaced it with software/hardware upgraded SR8895. Only one word - it's brilliant! Quieter, faster, smarter and more efficient - all better now. I can recommend!

Excellent. Good to know Samsung addressed the issue on later gen4s. The Samsung technician I spoke to said it was a known issue with memory on large floorplans but did not mention it was fixed. As you can see from my signature i'm a big robot fan.

"Pop-Out" Side Brushes feature is very interesting design, but I'm not sure if worth extra €. From what I know at now, the new Navibot/Tango Corner Clean is more expensive than high-end, self-emptying Navibot S SR8980. I noticed that it left uncleaned 1 sq cm in corners. Navibot without this feature left around 5cm from the corner. Both robots cleans along walls as same, no significant difference. Still no real-life compare between Navibots 'with' and 'without' this feature. Sad.
