I started with a C64, which i used for a very long time, even when we also had an Amiga 500 :)
My first step in the PC world was an XT we borrowed from someone, and later i bought my own 386DX :)
On the software side I kept using DOS6.2 until somewhere '95 or '96, which might not have been the most appropriate OS for the Pentium II i had at that time, so after that i switched to linux and that's where i still am :)

Even now i usually use quite old stuff because it's fast enough for most things i do. My "main PC" is a laptop which is about 10 years old now i think, only the harddrive has been replaced, but now the defective and non replaceable fan is probably going to kill it sometime.

Thanks Mike for the video.

Yes, that Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I with the expansion box and the Radio Shack cassette recorder (for storage) sitting at the right side. You can see the ribbon cable between the keyboard and the expansion box. I remember that I had to remove the cable and used an eraser to clean the contact periodically.

Did a quick search and someone is selling a TRS-80 hard disk adapter for $50.

I think it is time for me to sell my vintage computers before my next move - TRS-80, my original Commodore PET, Apple Macintosh. I kept moving these vintage computers and my collection of Bytes magazines with me to different houses.

I've started with this beast of a PC - Pentium 75 with massive 540mb hard drive storage. That's all I remember about it :D

My first computer was probably one of the few older than this thread! An XP with an amber screen (bling dual frequency mind you!) and an incomprehensibly big 20Mb hard disk drive, and a floppy drive! Heh!

LOL, some of you guy's really are young ... I started on a Tandy 1000 EX (XT Class) running DOS 2.11

I know guys who started on VIC20's and a few with late 70's Apple II's.

I managed to find a nice EX last year, so nice to have one again. 8)
