Multiple "Robots" - Why?

Postby Banjo » July 8th, 2019, 8:09 pm

As I was reading some of the reviews, informative input and trying to understand my options and the best place to put the home docking station that would be out of the way, I kept reading that many of you have multiple robot cleaners. I understand that these are quite pricey vs. a standard vacuum and I was very curious why so many of you have more than one? I can understand one for each floor since they can't climb or descend stairs, but why would so many people have multiples? For a one story home with five rooms, would I need more than one? Thanks!

BTW: We have not purchased a robotic vacuum yet, still in the research and determine best option stage! I appreciate the group's expertise!

The number of robots for your environment could very well be one robot, this is a personal decision for each robot owner. Some robot owners purchase two to cut the cleaning time in half. Others purchase two or even more so that they will have spare parts for possible failures or International purchases for the same reason.

The best robot (in my opinion) is the iRobot Roomba. All earlier modes have the ability for the customerto actually perform tests to find failures and replace their own parts. Most failing parts are of modular design and easy to remove and replace. Steer clear of all iRobot Roombas made after the 960 and 980. The new i7 and S9 Roombas do not provide for the owner to perform their own maintenance troubleshooting since there is no longer any access to the built in tests.

One last bit I can offer is if you have issues with where to place your single home base, purchase another. Your Roomba will seek and go to the first home base it finds.
