Once you have set the baud rate to 57,600 and saved the setting you should not have to enter $$$ and get the CMD prompt from the Bluesm1rf again. The 110 Dirt Dog should be sending out the same charging data that your 4130 is sending as long as it is connected to either a home base or a power supply unit.

That's what I figured. The 4130 gives the charging info, the dirt dog isn't in this case. Could there be an SCI issue on the dirt dog

EDIT: Nevermind, now I'm not getting charging info from either roomba! :-(

I have not had issues getting charging info from the Dirt Dog using BAM or my reds using a Basic Stamp that was programmed to bridge SCI commands to a BT module.

It seems like you need to solve your issues with BT and then you can go to the next level.

That's what I'm thinking. I ordered a bt dongle, should be here this week. Hopefully ill be able to do a little more from the PC than from the android.

Thanks for the ongoing help I'm getting from everyone with this, I really do appreciate it.

Has anyone found a fix for this or happened to get a bluesmirf working with the android app? I just ordered a bluesmirf to use with the app and hope it wasn't a $40 mistake. The chip comes with 115k baud rate default, which should let it work with the 500 series, no problem. In the app, there is a setting for Create compatability, which I think changes baud rate somewhere. I would try this and see if it fixes it. Also, I heard CTS and RTS need to be shorted on the smirf (see schematic on hackingroomba page).

I will try an updated version of this app on my security dawg (dirt dog with BAM) tomorrow. Not a bluesmirf but it will be a data point.

I don't think RTS and CTS need to be tied together since hardware flow control is not used.
