Scooba like Mod for Roomba?

Postby violetdream » February 21st, 2011, 11:59 pm

Most of the floors in my house are hardwood/tile, so a floor cleaner would be really nice. However, I don't really want to shell out the extra money for a scooba when I basically have all I need...Has anyone done even a simple mod to clean floors? Something even as simple as a microcontroller squirting a squirt bottle of cleaner and a flat rag in front? I don't know...just ideas :)

There is an attachment for the Roomba made by RobotAddOns that will wipe the floor.

The scooba would clean better than a spray bottle and a rag, but whatever works for you

Using a roomba to squirt solution is a recipe for disaster. Any liquid missed will get sucked up into the roomba or collected on the wheels. Once liquid gets to an internal electronic device the roomba will fail and possible suffer damage.

Mike, I believe He was thinking of having a rag wipe it up so it couldn't get into the vacuum... Still, if you short the Roomba, your gonna have to get a Roomba and a Scooba. :P

Hello. Coincidentally, I just ordered a 6-pak of these cleaning pads a couple days ago...

Have not received yet. The customer reviews on Amazon are very poor, but figured I'd spend $20 to try them for myself.

Haha thanks for the tip on those pads. Fortunately all I needed was the idea, since placing a microfiber rag over a rung out sponge in the empty place where you take out the brushes worked splendidly :) It's fun to see the little streak marks over the floor. I'd bet that my cheap rag and sponge do more than the pethair magnet things...

To papawheelie - did those pads work?
To violetdream - can you share pictures?

I'm interested in doing something like this to damp mop my floors for my Roomba, since I have all unsealed hardwood floors that cannot use the Scooba for cleaning. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
