Hey thanks robotman for the ideas! I will take a look at the rootooth as well.
I thought of using some kind of switch to turn it on, I like your idea of a reed switch... fancy!
I might try and find a switched 12 or 5 volts internally also, as there is a switching supply for the 5 volts... just need to find out if it is switched or not.
Even though, the bluetooth doesn't draw very much current, and the trickle charge current (indicated by the SCI monitoring) is about 45 ma, which might be enough to power the bluetooth while it is in standby (not transmitting).
The bot draws current even while it is off, so this might be an issue.... we'll see.
There is a little room where the front wheel and bumper sensors are so it might fit there.
I really didn't want to mount it outside the bot because of what it runs into while it is cleaning... might crunch the bluetooth.
Of course, I need to get the bluetooth FIRST, then decide where I want to put it.
