Roomba Status "problems'

Postby pomonabill221 » September 11th, 2012, 4:32 pm

Hi all!
I have been using Roomba Status wirelessly alot, and it has been great! I am using it with a 560.
I do have a couple of possible problems I would like to ask about.

1) when the bot is running, I get status updates and indications of the bumpers/battery condition/cliff sensors/etc.
BUT... the virtual wall indication doesn't seem to work. I am using it with the auto VW/LH's (the white ones with the black top, oval shaped).
Only occasionally does the "virtual wall" bar in roombastatus turn red, and it seems to do so when it is NOT seeing a virtual wall. Could this be due to an error receiving the data from the bot occasionally?
I have also noted that every once in a while, the bot acts like it sees a virtual wall when there isn't one around... I don't think this is a roombastatus error though... strange!

and 2) Looking at the distance display in the roomba window, when the bot is traveling forward, the distance shows an increasing negative value. The total distance is positive and is incrementing though. When the bot bumps something, the distance display does reset to zero and starts incrementing negative again. Is this the way the 560 sends travel distance and how roombastatus is decoding the data?

Overall I really like roombastatus and I use it to watch the battery condition as well as determining what the bot is seeing when it is on a mission.

Does anyone have any ideas to my original post about roomba status? I know it has been viewed (185 views), but no response. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Also, I still really like RS for watching my bot charge and in action!
I do have another question about RS's web interface (remote webserver). I haven't had any luck using firefox, so I use IE (yech).
When I connect with IE, it has always said that I have the wrong login (3 times) and I have to wait 15 minutes, even though I have only tried firefox once, then IE.
Is there something in the web interface with RS that I can change to eliminate the counter, or at least change the number to something higher?

You're dealing with an unsupported program that was built for the earlier Roomba (R2) models.

Well I just thought that since RS has been mentioned many times on these forums that someone might have a suggestion. It has also been mentioned that it does work with the 560's and I just wanted to get a little more info.
oh well.....

Can anyone suggest something that IS supported and is for the 560's?
I would like to monitor the bot's operation as well as charging. I know that realterm can monitor charging, but not operation.

HHmmmm.. I have looked at it before, although briefly. It seems to be overkill, but I will give it a try before I buy. I really only want to monitor the bot's operation and charging, but I will see if roborealm will do what I want...
Thanks for the info Vic!
