TCP/IP connection for your Roomba

Postby vic7767 » February 7th, 2013, 8:43 pm

With just a little software program (now called an app) and a TTL to WiFi- IP widget (from China) you can now connect to your Roomba using WiFi. No more cables, and the WiFi distance is much better than the bluetooth class 1 dongle.

Here's a couple of shots of monitoring a charging 560 Roomba in my shop and using a laptop located in the Living room. More info to follow later:

That is cool vic7767 but in typical usage wifi and bluetooth class 1 have pretty similar range, at least in my household.

Ya Mike, inside the house I have the same results but if you have one of those hot spot WiFi repeaters outside then your able to run the Dirt Dog over to the neighbors deck and clean it. (Could work, lol) I'm thinking that with the outside antenna and a hacked Roomba (modified wheels etc) it could become a mini ATV.

Good point. Time to turn the dirtdog into a snowblower!

Can you supply a pointer to the widget?
