Haven't seen it posted here, but it seems like a clever hacker has reverse engineered the Roomba REST API, and with a bit of setup you can get it to poll for location and draw a live map of the cleaning progress.
This should also pave the way to a lot of interesting hacks, such as Amazon Echo integration, etc.
Nice! Thanks for posting this. It's great to see the API requires at least username/password — I always am scared by how terrible most companies are at even basic security. I still wouldn't be shocked if there are massive security holes, but at least the very basic is taken care of.
Now all I need is someone to do the same for my Dyson 360 Eye! I would be interested in coding up some integrations.
Hi, Just got myself a new iRobot 980 and was wondering about the status of live maps. Is it possible to do this with a phone app, or is the APi still needed? Could you please link me to a tutorial to get started? Thanks! STU
