Keeping Roomba awake during docking

Post by Schievel »

Hi, it's me again :D

This time I've got a different problem:
How can I keep my Roomba 651 awake when it's docked and charging?

When it is not docked it am using the DD wire in the serial port, which is wired to my Serial Ports Data Terminal Ready Pin.
So I am using a small python script to trigger the DTR, this wakes the Roomba when it fell asleep.
But somehow this doesnt work when the Roomba is docked and sleeping.

So, is there any other way to wake Roomba up when it's docked then pressing the Clean button?

Rgds

Have you tried connecting pin 5 & 6 together on the 7 pin mini Din?

Yes, this is the same like triggering the DTR if I understand this correctly. But it wont work, when Roomba is docked.

I have noticed the same issue. Although pulsing the BRC pin works if undocked, it will only work if docked under one condition... namely fast charging. If the Roomba is doing trickle charging, it won't work.

The only solution I have found are a relay across the Clean button contacts or sending an IR Clean signal to the Roomba
