New Samsung Tango version for Europe? YES!!! Samsung Navibot SR8845/SR8855 comes to Europe with european display/remote control/i-Guard, manual and guarantee :D

Samsung has launched a robotic vacuum cleaner which maps the layout of a home for automatic cleaning - even when you're out and about.

The Navibot SR8845 is powered by two CPU control chips, operating Samsung's Visionary Mapping System, which lets the cleaner know where it is in the home at all times.

The clever cleaner is fitted with a camera which takes 30 photos every second to help it identify the rooms. The 38 sensors allow it to negotiate obstacles, such as table legs and sofas, and prevent it from tumbling down stairs.

If the Navibot is running low on power, it makes its own way back to the docking station and catches up on a couple of hours rest and recuperation before retracing its steps, and continues cleaning where it left off.

Brushes on either side of the robot are designed to clean right to the edges of a room, and it rolls over surfaces such as thick rugs and carpets.

The ultra-low robot can clean in difficult to reach areas, even with a stick cleaner, such as under the coffee table. There's also an option to delay the start of a cleaning cycle, so you don't even need to be at home while it does its work.

Samsung said: "Compact, sleek and agile, the new Navibot robot vacuum cleaner looks set to revolutionise domestic cleaning.

"Ushering in a new age of household appliances, this small but powerful device is capable of moving in complete autonomy over many different kinds of surface."

Two models in different prices and functions: €499 (2X i-Guard, touch-screen) and €399 (1X i-Guard, button operated).

Samsung Navibot commercial.

Or I'm wrong or new Navibot don't bump into obstacles? Look at 0:39. Maybe they update it bumping feature to no-bumping? Correct me, if I'm wrong.

If they uptated the bumping "feature" it would be a first step into the right direction.
Into the video it looks like they have given the Tango a special firmware for presentation.
I think so because of the Tango didn't reduces the speed before stoping and changing diretion.

But it seems the Tango is not very good in detecting small chair legs, edges, think obstacles,
reflecting things and so on. I think so because of my Tango didn't reduces the speed before bumping this.
If Tango detects somethink with its infrared sensors, it reduces the speed before bumping.

Second they should do is to give the tango the good navigation around obstacles as
the VC-RE72 had before. My Tango is unable to navigate correctly under desks and chairs.
It only knows straight lines, no curves, no wall following, no avoidng chair legs and so on....
So it happened that some areas will never cleaned.
It only knows curves if it search its charging station...

I Hope Samsung is reading here too. :)

I wonder if previous VC-RE70/72V was able to go over this rug or doorstep as in this test in above commercial movie

No it isn't able to go over this. I only know the Tango to be able to go over this.
Also my Roomba and some other robot vacuums i tested are not able to do so.
The Tango has a very good climbing ability, so my Tango sometimes climb into the lowest
fold of a wooden rack into my room and wants to clean there. :)

Ok, but I think that SR9630 is able to go over carpets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ora_u0ZicAU and low doorsteps (below 1 cm).

I have the VC-RE72 too, which seems to be the same like the SR9630, so i'am able to test the climbing ability.
If you have luck, it climbs a flat carpet rug, not more.
Mostly it detects rugs as an obstacle or it is climbing badly with spinning wheels an loosing the right direction.
It's not comparable to the Tango climbing ability.

At the videolink you can see how clever the old VC-RE72 is mowing around chairlegs and thin obstacles.
I couldn't understand why they took of this necessary feature from the Tango.

If the "new" Navibot has the same firmware and mechanic like the Tango, (and i think so) this bot will
be dissapointing for some customers.

I found that new Navibot is not good at picking up debris from carpets http://www.which.co.uk/reviews-ns/samsu ... /index.jsp they said: "But we were a little disappointed with its cleaning on carpet. While it definitely brushed up larger bits of fluff and crumbs, it did leave behind visible smaller debris and didn’t seem to suck up dust from our thicker pile rug very well." What you say about that? You said in another thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12782&p=76500#p76500 that the older one was better at picking up on carpet (in "Spot" mode). But how it can clean carpet if it is unable to climb on it in "Auto" mode... :(

Yes that are my experiences too. The Tango hasn't the accuracy in cleaning carpets than the older
VC-RE72 has, and thats one of the points that makes my dissapointed to this new modell.

The older one does a better brushing job. Its brush is going deeper on the floor an so its able
to pick up much more fluff and thinks which do stuck into the fiber of the carpet.
May be the brush of the older one is better than the new one.
The difference in brushing accuracy is really significant.
Meanwhile i cut 0,5mm of the "lip" of the Tango. Now it works a little bit better, but not fine.
Maybe i have to cut the lip (which prevent the brush from going deep enough to the floor) a second time.

You said in another thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12782&p=76500#p76500 that the older one was better at picking up on carpet (in "Spot" mode). But how it can clean carpet if it is unable to climb on it in "Auto" mode... :(

If auto or spot mode is not important for the difference in cleaning accuracy or climbing ability.
That the VC-RE72 hasn't the ability to climb on something like higher rugs does not mean that it couldn't clean a carpet. :)
Most of my rooms are completly layed with short fiber carpet, so the robot musn't climb it.
Under the Couch and table there are carpet rugs and the VC-RE72 isnt able to climb on it.
Flat rugs are no Problem, but they must flat and not high.

If the carpet were it starts on has short fiber, the VC-RE72 is able to clean it.
Clearly better than the Tango can clean the same carpet... :(
