Is there a difference in sucction power?

The Korean model is available on ebay.com, but all the selleres has put out spesification list for either the SR8855 (for english text) or written the spesifications for the older model VC-RA84V (62dB) even if the product is clearly named VC-RL84V in the headline. Has anyone bought from one of the sellers on ebay and recieved a VC-RL84V and not the older model?

If someone has experience with the LG Roboking VR5901KL coherent to noice level and suction they are most welcome to comment.

There are some differences between european SR8855 and korean VC-RL84V. First of all, the korean model is 55dB and european - 73dB, as you said, but I think that 73dB is not much in real. It is very quiet and no annoying to me in comparison with my old robots (v-bot and tcm tchibo). Second difference are sensors - SR8855 has "anti-collision" sensors, VC-RL84V - "soft-bumping" sensors. Tango model will bumping at all the time it is working (only slows down before impact - similar as roomba 5XX). Navibot in most cases doesn't bump as all other "no-bumping" robots (see for the neato, trilobite) . Also, korean models has magnetic tape and voice guidance (in korean). The difference between VC-RA84V and VC-RL84V is only noise level (62dB and 55dB).

LG RoboKing is probably the most silent robot vacuum cleaner at this time (only 50dB), but I don't know what with performance...also, it is not designed to cleaning carpets - only very low carpeted floors (you can see on youtube).

Also, as I said before I don't believe that SR8855 is 73dB. I own cylinder vacuum cleaner which is 70dB and Navibot is much more quieter than this. When I switch on both of them I hear only cylinder...

My Sr8855 arrived today... and I'm very happy for it's coming :cheers:
But now I need a tip... :help:
This particular model offers the possibility to choose between scheduled daily cleaning and setting daily cleaning.
I can't find how to program the daily cleaning.
On the manual I can see that I should press Timer/Daily to enter in daily cleaning mode, but it's the same button for the scheduled cleaning mode.
How can I pass from one mode to the other? :oops:
I've been searching almost everywhere, but the answer is probably silly as my question... :doh:

Topic about "how to set the daily cleaning/schedule" was resolved some pages before in this thread.

@piokrza
I've searched the forum and all that I could find is this:

Delay start in SR8845 and SR8855 are different In SR8855 you have to set the clock before set the delay start.

SR8855 - daily schedule (one cleaning time for all days in week) and delay start (you set the exact hour and minute of the start, e.g. it is 7:00 AM now and you want to delay the start for 9:30 AM, so you set "9:30 AM" in delay mode setting),

SR8845 - only delay start (up to 23hr; e.g. it is 7:00 AM now and you want to delay the sart for 9:00 AM, so you set "2hr" in delay mode setting),

BTW, I wrote about it several months ago :)

And it is not solving my problem. :oops:
I have set the clock using the remote control, pressing the clock button. :arrow:
Then I press Timer/Daily button but I'm automatically forwarded to scheduled cleaning while I'd like to land in srtting daily cleaning progrma mode. :cry:
So, please, can you help me saying how to switch between one and the other programming mode? :thanks:

@littlepitt

Sorry :oops: I made a mistake. I wrote about it in Samsung Tango thread or other thread...I can't remember :(

I try setting "schedule" and "daily" today and I do it well :) First of all your robot MUST BE placed in the docking station (connected to the socket). Then you switch it on by pressing the main "red" switch (at the bottom of the robot).

Next step - setting the clock.

Press the "clock" button on remote. By pressing "<" or ">" on the remote or robot, you can set the hour. Press the "clock" again. Now set the minute by pressing "<" or ">". Press the "clock" button again. You set the time.

Now, to set the "schedule" press the "timer/daily" once. Press it once again. Set the hour by pressing "<" or ">". Press "timer/daily" again and press "<" or ">" to set the minute. Press "timer/daily" again. You set the "schedule".
To delete - press the "timer/daily" twice and then "stop" button

To set the "daily" simply hold pressed "timer/daily" button on the remote or robot for 3 seconds. The "daily" lights up on the display. Press the "timer/daily" again. Now set the hour by pressing "<" or ">". Press "timer/daily". Press the "<" or ">" to set minute. "Daily" mode is set!
To delete - press the "timer/daily" for 3 sec and then "stop" button

I hope it help.

I made a video about it

Hello xman66,

I noticed that the minimum height of free space under furniture is about 9.5cm. Although the robot has 9.3cm in height, the "smart gate" sensor at the front bumper is longer, I think. So the safest will be 10cm.

thanks, that sounds good! my sofa legs are around 10cm high. for the remaining furnitutre I will probably go for additional +1/+2 cm just to be sure there is no contact or that the navibot is not afraid to run under :cheers: it is already ordered and should arrive soon :)

I recently bought a SR8855 and I wanted to check if some other users have thse issues too:
  • The beacon to keep the Navibot from wandering into other rooms should have 2 functions: Fence and Guide, but the Guide mode is not working: the Navibot just acts as if it is a Fence and never passes it
  • The robot is not very good at finding back it's base station. When it is done, it starts making weird moves and always tries to make circles so it always starts bumping into walls and even gets stuck in corners

Apart from this I have to say it cleans pretty good on hard floors.

I just got mine last week and had the same issue. In Gate mode you still have the issue of the navibot is not allowed within about 30cm of the beacon. This means you have to make sure it's 30cm or more away from the doorway otherwise you'll find the navibot cant cross the beam because it's within this safety zone.
So try moving the beacon away from the door and try again. It's not the best feature I think it would be a lot better if that range was a lot less say in the 5-10cm range.

And this is what manual say - the minimum distance is 30cm.

Hey guys! New to Robot Reviews here. Found this place after doing some research on the Navibot. Thanks to everyone who provided input and a special thanks goes to piokrza! Hehe. You made me buy 'Virgil' (that's the name I've given to our family's Navibot, comes from the Halo 3 ODST game, 'Superintendent AI'). So far I've had Virgil trundling about on some limited test runs over at my grandma's place. She has a mixture of linoleum (sp?) and short carpeted floors. I have mixed feelings about him so far. He seems to be vacuuming a lot of dust...didn't realise my grandma's place was that dusty! A few observations thus far:

1. Navibot seems to 'hop' every now and then...this seems to upset it's 'straight line' cleaning pattern. He ends up 'side tracking' a bit and ends up on the new 'plane'. (Was that a clear explanation?)

2. Navibot cleaned 3 bedrooms and one hallway in this manner: Cleaned base room completely first (where docking station is) then moved onto the master bedroom (grandma's bedroom) but missed a square metre near one of the corners opposite the door, then moved onto the second bedroom and cleaned that...initially missing a small area (about 30 square cms). While it was in the second bedroom it chimed 'end'...then it moved to clean up that small area...then it moved back into the master bedroom and cleaned up the missed square meter area...then (by this time it was hobbling oddly for some reason) it moved back into the base room and found it's dock to recharge. (I still find this amazing.) I ran quick maintenance on Navibot and found that he had 'eaten' some fishing line (lol) which had become intertwined in the powerbrush.

3. Navibot really dislikes 1970's fashioned chairs which have legs similar to...think 'Samsung's 3D LED TV's series'. He rams the legs at full speed and gets stuck, then chimes to get rescued.

Hmm, that's it for now. Will post more findings after some more runs! :)

Hai, I have my Navibot since one month and mine too have the same problem... It really has problem finding its way back to the base (no problem if in front of base) and does wander around wall corner until it gets stuck on some ikea chair.. This is really annoying.... I had a Kärcher RC 3000 which i gave back to the store within two days after purchase for this Navibot. The main reason for the change was the kärcher didnt had a navigation based methodical cleaning, but it was PERFECT in finding the base station. NOW I REGRET.... :(

@Jimson,

Welcome to the robotreviews! :) Thanks for your review.

I have similar experience. At the last run my Navibot ends up the program ("End" on display), but don't stop the cleaning mechanism (side/main brush and vacuum motor). He return to the place where he left and then he go to the dock. Before when I run him, he turned OFF his cleaning mechanism when he displays "End" and do the missed spots before it. I don't know if this is an issue...

With the kärcher, you really need patience .. Many times you find it cleaning over the same place...In my case, it did not get to all places in the apartment (or maybe I have to leave it running for 9 hours).. This is the problem with "bump & turn" style navigation... If it had an intelligent navigation, then it would be the best... I really liked its design, base station and being amazingly quite..
