Profimaster md 13202 bearings mod

Postby boril » June 16th, 2015, 7:19 pm

I'm going to start a wheel mod of my cheap german Profimaster md 13202 robot. I think it's pretty impressive cleaning robot for it's cost. I doesn't have main brush, which is minus, also lack of many proximity sensors as roomba, so a lot of hitting and bumping to the house furniture , but has a lithium battery.
I notice that the wheels have some kind of open bearings, which with the time are worn, so I'm going to replace them with sealed bearing in coming weeks. I'll probably mod also with bearings the two side brushes. I'll try to picture as much as I can.

Update: bearings for both wheels and side brushes ordered, so I expect mod work to start tomorrow or during the weekend.
Bearings: MR 128 ZZ - 8x12x2.5 for side brush
61703 ZZ - 17x23x4 for the wheels.

I received the bearings,

so time to start working over my project.
I decided to start with the side brushed because they are easy to remove and mod.
I'm not going to cover the whole disassembly & assembly procedure, but after removing all bolts you should have something like that.

Notice the right wheel is already removed because I need to measure what bearing I can fit before order them

Removing left side brush - It's hard to see from the picture but there is more than 1 mm gap.

Be interesting to see how you go. Of course you are doing a great thing from a mechanical point of view, but I wonder if there is enough margin in the design of the permanent magnet motor. A sealed bearing (specially a small one) is a lot more draggy than a 1mm gap!

Unfortunately I lost the remote control, can someone send ARDUINO codes (sendbuf raw data) "HOME" and "VIRTUAL WALL"?
Thanks
