My vacuum used to send notifications to my iphone (brush needs to be cleaned, tangled in a cord, finished cleaned, starting cleaning, needs to recharge). Now I don't get any notifications. I can still use the app and communicate with the robot, but I don't get any out-of-app notifications. I've checked all my iOS settings and it's set to give me alerts, but they don't come any more. Anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

Please help!

I am so happy with my Xiaomi vacuum cleaner, but for the life of me I can't get the app in English... I have tried everything, even all the steps on this forum.

My phone is not rooted. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7.

I am using Windows 10 with Cygwin. I can't backup the single folder: com.xiaomi.smarthome. Because when I try that, it says unlock your phone and verify (or something like that). So I have to use the adb backup -all command.

I convert it to .tar file format. I extract it, change the .APK file. Re-Tar it with 7zip/PeaZip/pax (tried all) convert it to .AB and restore it. I see that the restoration job runs on my phone, I get a small notification bubble and that it is finished. When I next try to open the Mi Home app and click on my vacuum, it's still Chinese.

Under profile i disabled auto update, set to mainland china and language default. (My phone is english)

Ok I found the initial problem of not backupping a single APK file.. Unfortunately that was not the solution.

I type these commands:

c:\Temp\telefoon\ADB>adb backup "-f backup.ab -apk com.xiaomi.smarthome"
c:\Temp\telefoon\ABE>"c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_121\bin\java.exe" -jar abe.jar unpack backup.ab backup.tar wachtwoord

tar -tf /cygdrive/c/temp/telefoon/abe/backup.tar > backup.list
cat /cygdrive/c/temp/telefoon/abe/backup.list | pax -wd > newbackup.tar
java -jar abe.jar pack newbackup.tar newbackup.ab wachtwoord
adb restore newbackup.ab

I get a prompt on my phone so I type the password there, reboot it manually and start the app. Still chinese..

This won't help you if you're determined to make the solution above work but I'm using an app called App Translator that seems to work pretty well. It doesn't require root either. The only downside is that it has micro-transactions to pay for the service, although the first 10,000 characters are free. I've been using it for a week now and it says that I have 9,004 characters left and I can have more credits if I watch an ad, purchase more or share. It seems like it remembers the previous translations so I'm not sure if it will run out if most of the words are unchanging. On the plus side, it seems to translate the notifications as well as the app.

Is it just me or is the Xiaomi Vacuum app in English now? I have app translator running but I've started to notice that English is now standard. First my notifications were in a English and then the entire app. Anyone else reporting this?

It's right under Settings/Voice Packs. It's the second entry from the bottom.

Ah, I see it's an ios/android thing - apparently only ios users get the voice (for now).

Nope, I'm on Android and my app has been translated to English as well. Was also able to select English voice through the app. My guess is that the new version of the app is being rolled out in stages. If you do not have it yet you just have to be patient.

I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get the new English version to connect. But wow, now I can understand what she is saying! Too bad the voice prompts are kind of plain. I was hoping that, in Chinese, she was saying "thanks for cleaning my bin, master!"

Panache, do you have an iPhone? Did you have to change it from Mainland China to USA? I thought that would cause it to not work.

I have an android phone. I first installed the english voice pack. Then I updated the app and picked United States as location. It wanted me to sign back in and reconnect the vacuum so I had to reset the WiFi on the vacuum. I did that but the app would not connect. Uninstalled the app and then reinstalled/logged in again and then it worked like it was new (where the phone connects to the Wifi signal of the vacuum, sends the Wifi info and disconnects).

I have an iPhone. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, setting the local to "United States" and adding the robot. I put in my wifi and try to connect it, but it never connects to wifi. If I sign out, put "Mainland china" and do all the wifi connect, it works every time. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm using S7e, it is running Android Nougat.

I change locale from china to us, reset robots wifi, logged in.

Then was able to download ENG voicepack:

Also, all menus are in ENG also:

I changed locale back to China, because i have another Xiaomi product and it cannot be find/used when locale is set to US.
ENG voice is left, but not seen on list and plugin is back in CN :(
