Ilife V5Pro / X5 / A4 / A6 Reviews, Information and EU stock

Postby ZTCB1 » December 20th, 2016, 8:32 am

Hi everyone

I have decided to buy several different ILife robot vacuums as I have found them very cheap and in EU storage which means no more customs and long waiting time for it's delivery. For anyone interested EU warehouse (with priority shipping DHL) delivers in around 4-5 days and there are several models like the X5, V5 Pro, V7, A4: http://www.gearbest.com/home-applicances-c_11323/?wid=3

In this thread I will test & review the following models:

V5 PRO
X5
A4

The V5 Pro has arrived and I can say that I'm really impressed and I'm going to tell you why:
- Unexpectedly silent
- Climbs on a medium carpet without any problem
- Very efficient at gathering dirt, in the pictures you can see what it has gathered in a 2x2 meter area working for ~2 minutes. Prior to this test the house was cleaned a week before, but in my area there is a high amount of dust that settles in 1-2 days.
- Doesn't bump into thinks like furniture or walls and will circle or bump gently into smaller objects.
- It goes to the docking even if it is in another room, although it will take some time to get there if you have multiple rooms connected with a hallway.
- Comes bundled pretty good with extra filters, microfiber cloth and brushes.
- Very well built with good materials and good sealing for filtration systems (it uses gaskets to seal all filtration and filters).

I have payed for it 146.09$ with express shipping by DHL from EU warehouse (and used "V5PROEU" to get a slight discount).

I'll say what others are thinking...

That is a piece of sh!t! 2x side brushes and no main brush?! That is not a vacuum cleaner - it's a robot broom at best! Looks to me from the pics that it has that same wheels as the X500 / X550 units that were so prone to failure.

One of my customers said he was looking at one of these things, telling me "He didn't want a Mercedes - a Toyota Corolla would do!" It told him "This isn't a Toyota, this is a Tuk-Tuk!"

That's why I'm thinking of expanding the test with an ILIFE A4, it has a main broom along with the side brushes and increased suction power. As for cleaning efficiency I'm pretty pleased with it as it's a good "cleaning maintenance unit", as I said in my area the amount of dust is huge so even with weekly cleaning with a large washer vacuum (injection - extraction) it still gets fluffy all over the place in 2-3 days.

The X5 is here, basically same unit with the V5Pro but with some variations:

- The X5 has virtual wall compatibility and comes with one wall included.
- The X5 has an information LCD on it that shows time / program, etc and has a mini remote while on the V5 Pro you get to see the timer settings from the remote as it has a small built in LCD.

Video review for the X5 in which I also test the return to home (docking) and edge / cliff detection.

A4 unit confirmed for future test, probably right after the new year.

This was gathered in ~30 minutes, last time i have fully vacuumed the floors it was 3 days ago with a Karcher SE 4001.

The A4 is here

First impressions:
- Definitely more powerful and efficient at gathering dirt
- Will pick up a lot more hair from the carpets with the main broom
- Much more larger angle and wheels so it will go over thicker carpets
- Bigger dust bin
- No mopping (dry or wet)
- No LCD on device to show status / errors / battery level only a multi colored led under the single switch on it's top
- Has 4 cell Li-Ion battery while the X5/V5Pro have a 3 cell battery

You're a one-man unboxing MACHINE!

It seems that all the people in this thread (except me of course) are VERY excited about these ILIFE machines!

is your Ilife V5Pro robot still working as it should?

I am asking because I have been through two Haier pathfinders that stopped working after a couple of months.

Thanks,

The V5Pro works still fine, it's used 3 days / week (3 out of 5). It only needs the small hepa filter to be replaced as i'm brushing it since the first review :) It's cheap to get replaced.

The A4 unit also works fine on a daily schedule. This had an error as one wheel got wound up with hair / dust and was spinning harder.

You should also take a look at the new and upgraded A4S.

There is an interesting new model that has been released by ILIFE, the ILIFE A6 unit. It has some improvements over the previous models such as stronger suction power, a V-shapped rubber brush that will not get clogged with hairs and also supports virtual wall. More details about it are available HERE
