New Schedular Max mode cleaning problem

Postby Guest on November 21st, 2005, 12:07 pm

I just purchased the schedular and had charging problem, after trying different things we finally got it to recharge for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. It will also dock now. My problem now is that on the MAX mode it never cleans over ! HOUR and in the regular mode it never cleans over 1 hour. IRobotics has been no help. Any one know the solution ?

It could be that your Roomba is simply running out of battery before 1 hour. What kind of floor surface are you running it on?

I hour running only

Postby roombamad on November 22nd, 2005, 7:23 pm

I have the same problem after upgrading the software on both my roomba's. I am guessing this is deliberate as once the roomba reaches 1 hour it begins to look for its homebase whilst cleaning (2 lights activate after 1 hour).

This appears to be an attempt to improve the success rate at which roomba finds it base to recharge as previously I had very little luck, whereas now I have nearly an hour left of charge to search for the base !

After all, no one would be that impressed if we get the scheduling ability but it never made it back to base to charge !!

You might be on to something there! I guess it also may be a way to increase the life of the Roomba by stopping it getting too hot or the brushes becomming too dirty... Simply speculation of course!

Schedular Max problem

Postby Guest 1 on November 30th, 2005, 6:10 pm

Well it is me again,

well, they replaced my roomba scheduler and the docking station. I ended up with all the same problems again. I finally got it charging for 2 1/2 hours and docking.....BUT on the Max mode it still only goes for 1 hour. I have tile and very low carpet. I have even confined it to smaller area to test. It will never clean or max clean for than 1 hour. After 30 minutes it starts turing red and at the end of 1 hour it docks completely Red.

Customer service does not respond any more. Any ideas?

Guest, I have a Scheduler I just got from BB & B last Friday and I run it on MAX most of the time. For the first five days I ran it twice a day because it kept picking up so much dirt and debris I have a mix of tile and low pile carpet. Yesterday it ran for one hour and 50 mins. before it docked on solid red. It only takes 21/2-23/4 hour to charge. It sounds like your charging system or battery but you said you exchanged those, so try plugging it into a different electric receptacle. If that doesn't work, I would take/send it back and try another one.

How thick are your rugs? Thicker rugs cause more stress on the roomba meaning a shorter battery life :( >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon

Me again !

Postby Guest 1 on December 1st, 2005, 12:33 pm

Well I got in touch with everyone at Roomba and corporate, and they are sending me out a new battery in the mail today. He said he promised to follow up with me after it arrived.

Oh and I have very short carpet and tile. I even closed it off to a smaller room to do its thing. It wasn't the carpet or keeping the unit clean.

Will update you later.

thanks
