Hi all -
Just became a member a couple of minutes ago. Purchased my first Roomba from Overstock.com last week and it arrived today. From their website it is a "iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum with Home Base (Refurbished)." It also lists the following on the overstock.com website:
Vacuum cleaner includes:
One (1) iRobot Roomba 560
Two (2) Virtual Wall Lighthouses (each requires two C batteries, not included)
One (1) self-charging home base
One (1) power supply (3-hour charge time)
One (1) extra filter
I placed the important text in bold and underscored it. Anyway, I think you know how this story ends. I open the box and the Roomba has 2 auto virtual walls instead of the lighthouses.
Without opening any of the plastic wrap, I looked for a model number on the underside of the Roomba. It has been smuged out. Either sanded away or the factory used a hot instrument to remove the model number.
I bought from overstock b/c I wanted the lighthouse technology and they have a good warranty. I have a 1200 sq ft 3 bedroom home with an odd floor plan, and I am afraid that the little guy won't make it all the way through the house and back to the charging station. I am worried he would become lost and die of thirst.
I called overstock and informed them of the problem (their suppliers are not shipping what their website is advertising). Overstock.com's customer service people were very friendly and opened a ticket. They said they will get back to me in 2 business days.
While I wait for a call back, I have a few questions:
1. I assume I have a refurbished model 561 since it came with auto virtual walls, right? There is no chance I got a 560 that is lighthouse capable right?
2. Assuming overstock .com allows me to return the item, which is the least expensive model with lighthouse technology that I can get?
Thanks for a great forum everyone,
PS - I will update everyone on my experience with overstock.com as info becomes available.
