Difference between XV-11 and XV-12?

Postby Boomerang » January 5th, 2012, 9:54 am

Hi!
I haven't been here in quite a while. I still have the Roomba 580 and just purchased a new battery because it only ran for 10 minutes a Clean Cycle.
I started by reading the reviews of the new Neato. I was impressed with it's performance! I did a search and found the Neato web site features the XV-11 for purchase but some stores have the XV-12. Is there a difference in features?

Looking at the titles of recent threads or using the search-function makes life much easier.

This topic really was easy to find as the question was posted not long ago. (December 20th, 2011)

I can't get an XV-15 but I did get an XV-11 from Amazon and an XV-12 from Target. The only difference other than the color is I did notice a tighter fit of the orange holders on each end of the cleaning brush. Much more force is required to remove either end of the brush vane retainers on the XV-12 model. The pictures in this post are in the .gif format, to view both pictures just click on the image. There is a 5 second delay between images.

I think the white looks better than the green. It seems odd that it's the same machine with different model numbers so as to confuse the would be customer but I guess this is something iRobot often does. I have the iRobot 580 which I believe is the same as the 560. Mine did come with a remote control which I never use. The Neato seems interesting price wise offering same great features for less.

I know this is the million dollar question, but any guesses when the european version with the side brush will come out in the states? I've been creepin on this site for almost 6 months waiting for the next hardware revision. It's gotta be getting close...

I was hoping they were clearing inventory out with the xv12 and the wootoff they had not too long ago.

We're all waiting for the US version hoping it will not only have the side brush but also the bristle brush and LI-ion battery packs. The time frame for a US release is unknown presently.

i hate to do their research for them, but i'm assuming with those 3 upgrades you're looking at easily a $500 unit?

and i would pay it lol.

Just thinking out loud, I wonder if Neato, when they reformulated the plastic for the color changes, made any changes to tensile strength ? It would be interesting to know if anyone with an XV-12 has had the plastic tab holding the wheel spring break ?
