Having a dead battery – or a replacement battery packs from the manufacturer that keep dying – can just about ruin your experience with the device. Let us see what’s the best battery for us.

#4 Tenergy Replacement Battery

Compatibility: Roomba 500, 600, 700 and 800 Series
Tenergy is one of the more popular Roomba battery replacement choices, primarily because it is a good value for the money. At about $30 per battery pack, it is not a terribly risky investment. And We can reliably get about 1.5-1.45 hoours out of it, if we push it to the max. While it wasn’t quite as strong as advertised, it certainly did the job for us.

#3 Tattu Replacement Battery

Compatibility: Roomba 500, 600, 700 ,800 and 900 Series
As a reputable company in RC batteries field, include lipo batteries, nimh batteries etc, they are famous for their brand as Gens ace & tattu, like Tattu R-line series for FPV etc. Not just as a rc batteries brand, they are also make effort to other field, you may not hear, like jump starter, power bank, and they just released a new Roomba replacement battery, you may need that, it’s 3500mah Nimh battery. Their user said it can last about 2 hours, very strong and works well. Much to our surprise is its price, only $19.88, free shipping if you buy 2 packs and dispatch directly from USA and offer a 90-day-warranty after your order date. That’s maybe a good choice for us.

#2 Pwr+ Extended Capacity Replacement Battery

Compatibility: Roomba 500, 600, 700 and 800 Series
Despite going for close to $40 per pack, Pwr+ is still a much more affordable option than purchasing from iRobot directly. It also has some nice “extra” features that set it apart from some of the competition.
First and foremost, this is a reputable company with a good track record with Roomba devices. Pwr+ products are certified by a number of trade associations and promise a 50% greater “useful” battery life than the original factory Roomba batteries. Best of all, they have a 30 day money back gaurantee, should anything be clearly wrong. Furthermore, they have excellent phone support and offer free exchanges within the first year of ownership. They also offer to pay for the shipping.

#1 ANewPow Lithium Roomba Replacement Battery
Compatibility: 500, 600, 700, and 800 Series (also Scooba 450)
adding longevity over the default factory batteries. ANewPow is a relative newcomer to the replacement battery market, but they offer a serious upgrade and have received rave reviews from customers.
When we unpacked the lithium pack we were immediately impressed by the difference in quality (just externally). I had heard many good things about the lithium packs, so I was eager to test it out. While we have only had it for about 5 months, it has been holding up incredibly well. We have noticed a marked increase in the cleaning quality as well. This could be for a variety of reasons, but is likely because our Roomba 770 can make more persistent passes over our floors.

The two most important things (my 2c anyway) in rating which battery is best are:

1. Failure rate. IE what % of new batteries fail, or present errors within the first say 6 months of ownership?
2. Life expectancy. IE given a bell curve of sorts but on average how many years is the usefull life of the battery before it is consigned to the recycle bin?

I understand it is not easy to do.

Also, your compatibility lists are illogical - why would the only one compatible with the 900 be a NiMH? As far as I know, all these batteries would be compatible with all the machines listed there (some combinations might be unwise, but they would all 'work'.

Lithium Power Inc. has the best Lithium-NMC pack with a UL listing and great lifetime performance. Their packs will work in all iRobot Roomba and Scooba models as well as the earlier R2 models and the Dirt Dog. This company has the only Power Control Board that not only monitors and controls charging and discharging of the cells but also has a proprietary cell balancing circuit.

I have been running these packs in all my shop and home Roomba, and Scooba models for the past 5 years. I have had one pack failure that reported a high temp to the Roomba MCU and Lithium Power Inc. replaced it under their 1 year warranty and another pack that failed to balance one of the internal cells, also replaced under their warranty.

Any replacement batteries for 400 series? I have the blue scheduler (I believe discovery series) that seems to be 400 series. Needing a new battery as it's been in storage for YEARS.

Just wanted to note that for the past few days, the OEM iRobot extended life battery has been $40 on amazon-so about half off. Not sure why it is lower, but I picked up one for my bots and it appears to be genuine. Shipped and sold by amazon.

I've been reading concerning reviews on amazon about lithium packs and how the charging base is setup for Nimh and not for the drop in lithium packs. are people having issues with lithium batts going bad quickly because the Roomba is not designed for lithium?

The packs are designed to be used with the Roomba charging system and each pack has its own internal charging control board. The best pack is the one offered by Lithium Power Inc. I've been using their packs for 10 years in both Roomba and Scoobas with no issues.
