4.6.0 is indeed arriving on repaired and new units. It was never released as a update however , all things point to it only containing some connection fixes and nothing much for navigation or cleaning logic.
Big stuff is coming real soon , full configuration changes and access to change all parameters , security keys have been figured out! You can alter any and all settings along with brick your Bot with a single command!

Hi!
I was so happy when I found this Forum! Just what I was looking for!
Im new to this, and will probably ask some quite stupid questions... but how to learn if you don´t dare to ask?
I have a D3 that stopped work with the error: "put me down on the flor". I havent dare to try to disassembly the robot to solve the problem by myself... not yet anyway
So I bought a D5, second hand. Very nice, used very little.. a good affair!
But now it wants to uprade its firmware to 4.5.3-189.... I could of course go on without that upgrade, but I really want to give it a try!
So here comes my first stupid question: What kind of cable do I use to connect to the USB port in the D5? The port doesnt looks like an ordinary USB port.. and when trying with USB C cable there is no way to connect it.
Thanks in before if someone takes some time to answer my question.

Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
I have a D7. The port is a micro-USB port, the type used by many cell phones of the generation preceding the USB-C connection. If you have a charging cable for a slightly older cell phone, you can use that. Otherwise, these cables should be easy to find at an electronics store or even a discount dollar store.
I've enclosed a link to an Amazon product so you can view the photo of the cable.

Friend
Does this procedure work on the Neato Boatvac Connected D80 or D85?
I need to update firmware for this model and I can't find it.

Hi all and thx in advance for your answer.
I try the procedure to upgrade my D5 to 4.5.3 but i can't succed.
I tried 2 different usb sticks, i tried to format them in FAT32 or NTFS, I put the right files in the folder RobotData.
When i plug the usb stick the cleaner start blinking in blue but only two or three times then it make a bip and thats all.

I want to share my solution.
I've succeeded with the factory reset.
Preparation
1. Otp usb micro (for old smartphone) cable
2. 8g-32g memory usb Formatted 'default allocation size'
3. Download the firmware file. tgz
https://www.dropbox.com/s/68zjvoaroq0p6 ... 9.tgz?dl=0
4. Place the 4.5.3 tgz file in RobotData folder. It must be the only folder on the disk
First Step - Factory reset your neato
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to Power down
- remove the dust cover
- While hold pressing the Left/Front bumper, press once power button to turn it on
- after 10 seconds, let the bumper go.
- After some minutes, neato will boot again. Factory reset.
Second Step - Firmware Update
- Connect OTG cable and USB memory(copied the tgz file) to neato.
- Your Neato must be connected to its charging base.
- After some minutes, neato will be off and boot again.
- Done
* If your neato doesn't be turned off, it means it failed. you should do it again with another USB.
* I've tried these two USB sticks and succeeded with one of them. I think it might be a black Kingston USB 8G.

Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
Does anyone know if the file in this thread works for the D3? I have tried it with several different USB sticks but have not been able to get it to update. I have cleared the logs and done the hard reset procedure. The robot takes the file of of the USB stick but does not perform the update.

It does however neatos servers are back up and you can update thru normal channels now.
Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
I unfortunately cannot update with the file or from the server. I have even tried the DDNS trick. Neato support just tried me my firmware is too old to update. I'm moving onto roborock.crunchtime2k wrote:It does however neatos servers are back up and you can update thru normal channels now.

how to do it? I installed toolio but have no idea how to use itmagnetchief wrote: Cleaned the files from the D7 using Toolio as suggested.
Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
The certificate has expired in the firmware shared on the first page. I followed eyespy's instructions and made a new one that is working for me as of today. Should be good for another 6 months or so.

If you are from the future and want to know how to make a new one.
1. download the firmware tgz file
2. download the lastest firmware from vorwerk for one of their vaccuums. I used the one on this page: https://support.vorwerk.com/hc/en-us/ar ... hat-s-new-
3. Copy the Signing.crt from the vorwerk firmware over the one in the neato firmware tgz

Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
can this be used with Neato D4 D5 D6 and D7 ?
Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
Here is how I first failed and then succeeded updating my D4 (actually 3 of them). I had a 32 gig thumb drive that was recently slow formatted to NTFS. I did not reset the robot to factory default and did not disconnect wifi or delete logs. I connected the USB with the tgz file in the RoboData folder and turned the D4 on by pushing it against the charger. It started flashing lights and for 24 hours app said it was copying logs. I turned it off at that point. The usb still had the tgz file on it and no logs and the app said firmware was still the same.
So I got serious. I did a quick fat32 format using default settings. I put the tgz and uncompressed files within the tgz in the RobotData folder. I deleted the logs in the black box via toolio. Everything else was the same. Still connected to wifi. D4 was off. Connected USB drive. Pushed it against the charger and it was done in less than 5 minutes. The tgz files and uncompressed files were gone and Neato was updated. I did 2 more Neato's that way without connecting to the app so wifi and connection to the app is irrelevant. Good luck everyone. Hope it works for you. Be sure to make sure the signed .crt file is not expired and update it per other postings if needed. Slow format your USB if you haven't.

Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
I just wanted to post what worked for me just incase someone ran into the same issue:
Initial issue with updating via OTG/USB was that I kept getting an error that basically said certificate issue (similar to updating over wifi). I verified the file and made sure it was the file posted with the updated certificate posted here previously. I also used multiple USB drives and all of them had the same error. I even deleted the logs on the black box with Toolio and verified NTP setting was correct, as well as sensors were not giving errors. I tried the above user's method with not doing a hard reset, but I kept getting the same error.
After wasting about 2 hours I finally decided to hell with it and do a hard reset (on D3, hold right bumper whilst holding the power button until it turns off). Once the hard reset completed and I was getting the flashing blue light, I connected the OTG/USB with the file (x:/RobotData/<tgz file here>/). It read the update and viola it took less than 3 minutes to update!
I reconnected the D3 and was able to get all the previous setting back and I this little guy is finally on 4.5.3.
It's such a shame that a simple fix wasn't implemented on Neato's server side as it would have been easy. Also, it's disappointing to know that these bots have only about 5 years left of support. I've had mine for 3 years now and I've loved it.

Hello from today!
my Neato is stuck on 3.2.0-305, app says update available but error occurs during process: check internet, try again, contact support...
I also tried to flash the OTG/USB update, it seems to start and the robot starts doing it, but in less than a minute everything finishes. The certificate in the file is valid until 11.02.2024. I understand that this is the problem? I suspect that the servers have the same problem.
Are Neato Robotics dying?

Re:
If you did not know, Neato was shut down by Vorwerk last year (the German Company that has owned Neato since 2017) for "Underperforming". They said that they will continue to keep the servers and support up for 5 years. Only 5 people from the Neato team are left. One thing I am sad about is in Europe, where Vorwerk produces their robot vacuums and their most recent one has an auto-empty bin. So if Neato had not shut down, we would most likely have gotten an auto-empty Neato. If you try to go to their US website. It just shows kitchen supplies. You have to go to their German website to see them.JohnSilver wrote:Hello from today!

I’ll make a new file soon with updated cert
Re: Need Neato_4.5.3_189.tgz Firmware package
Thank you. I also need the updated certificate. Current one is not working. Also when I download the file it is saved as a .tar file rather than .tgz which I have to change manually. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks everyone for the help.
