I don't think your log is complete. I missing the first start.
You see on my dump the Roomba send the data from sample 2 (after start 2).
On your dump it starts at sample 5. (but where is the first ?)
Can you provide me more info about the log?
I mean was it charging or just was it just on the floor.
Was it already in passive mode (did you removed the battery, because this close the SCI mode)?

UPDATE new version 1.4:

- Change the start of the Serial data to make it compatible with the newer Roomba's ( 535 ).
I hope this give no problems with the older Roomba's

-Change the webinfo look.

- Add the command line. Send SCI commands to the Roomba.
Note: use a comma "," as delimiter.

- Add Serial log. To enable the logging you must start Roomba Status with the option "-l" or "-L".
example of the schortcut with command option:
"C:\Program Files\Roomba Status\Roomba Status.exe" -L

I accessed the log via dos and when I "cat" the file, the first part not sent to the screen. Here's the full log dump. The 535 is sitting on the home base, the Rootooth is plugged into the SCI.

Very nice GUI design and the program runs very well. Plugged Rootooth in the SCI on the 535, sent the MAX command and away it went. Great job....!

Do you have any suggestions on where to buy rootooth? Roombadevtools was out of stock last time I checked. How hard is it to build one yourself?

I got mine from Roomba exchange.

In the mean time you can make your own serial cable (thats easy).
I made my cabel of a datacable for an Nokia 3310 GSM.

There are some topics about DIY bluetooth but i think it's still not cheap.

OK, tried V 1.4, nice. Now to get picky. On your GUI at the bottom left and right, the "Dirt Detektor" must be renamed to "Dirt Detector"

The application starts up and when Connect is selected, the display becomes active, the sensors are shown and the charging info is shown. Very Nice !

Also do you need me to run a log on V1.4 using the 535 ?

No m8, when it's workin then i don't need the log.
I still try to improve the start up connection whith all Roomba's.
I made already a small change but this is for the next version.

I decided to play around with this program and discovered on two XP machines I had to store mscomm32.ocx manually into the system32 folder. Then I had to run the following command:

regsvr32 mscomm32.ocx

Just a heads up if you see an error message regarding mscomm32.ocx.

Great app, thanks for this and the charge monitor. It would be awesome to have these two apps tied together, for diagnostics. Maybe the charge monitor could also include the current charge in a graphical format. I've noticed my charge "magically" jumps from @100 to 2702. Don't think that's right unless the battery has problems. I take it we can't really read the charge going through each motor and sensor though. I have noticed that the first connection I make returns all sorts of false data on what sensors are running and what the current power status is. I have to connect then reconnect. After that a few times, it comes back correctly.
Do you have the source code for these?

I have noticed the charge and sensor information is sometimes wrong. If I disconnect and reconnect it usually fixes itself.

MSCOMM32.OCX provides serial communication for visual basic.

Just do a google search for it, you will find many places to download the file.

Thanks for the quick reply. I received the error, but I couldn't find the OCX file anywhere on my computer. I just opened the program, but since my Roomba 570 has not come yet and I don't have a Rootooth device, it won't work. I'll report back when the equipment comes.

Model 560: NiMh battery. Serial Cable. Plugged direct to charger, no base.
Been using V1.4 for a few days now, getting familiar with it. Great program!!
Couple of questions. . . Vic, or others.
What is the max voltage you see when Trickle Charging. I'm seeing almost 17.5V, with temp at 35C, charging current bouncing around 50 ma. Looking at Vic's log, seeing similar, but his volts are a bit less (probably still not to the top, since battery charge has not reached capacity)
Also note that the Movement, Left Arrow results in forward movement. Others work fine for me.
With -L logging, how long is the logging done. (probably could figure this out by looking at the log times, but maybe somebody knows this already) The log I'm getting is similar to Vic's.
Haven't worked out how to get the packets yet, without losing sync.

Something to remember on these 5XX models is that I suspect the software responsible for battery charging differs from model to model. The reason I say that is because I've got a 510 that charges a NiMH battery up to about 17.5 and a temp of 64 C but won't charge my test LI-ion battery that my 535 has no problem with. The 535 will also charge my NiMH battery way to hot. I suspect we will see a lot of stock NiMH batteries fail way before their time.

I normally use Procomm to capture the charging data and I try to gather at least 4 hours of data.
