Since you are set up to send commands, you can send the master reset command "7" to clear your schedule as well as all other timers and registers in the MCU.
Thanks for informing of "7" for reset. This is added to my ever-growing notes file.

Yeah, I operate on the 24-hour clock with the military and all... But, my mind just had a big blow out it seems and I went backward instead of forward.

It fired up at 2:10 as expected, so I redid the schedule with the proper clock this time around.

This thing's working great! Quick check of understanding if I might...

We'll be gone for a couple of days which is during the time that it normally runs on schedule. I don't want to risk it getting stuck and drain the battery.

I issued the following commands to clear the schedule, are they correct?
128
167,0,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
Thanks!

That should work. Also the removal of the battery or even sending the master reset command "7" via the SCI. Also the schedule could be saved and just plug the PSU directly into the side of the Roomba. That would prevent the Roomba from even starting a scheduled run.

An issue with plugging into the jack on the side of the robot has happened to a few owners. A contact gets bent which then prevents the robot from connecting to the dock. Pulling the battery or clearing the schedule are better choices.

I offer a USB to TTL cable on my website that includes the driver and a terminal program on a mini DVD.

I fixed it by installing the iRobot drivers manually and installing mscomm32.ocx.

Get mscomm32.ocx here: http://www.ocxdump.com/download-ocx-fil ... nload.html

Register it by opening a command prompt in administrator mode, navigate to the ocx file and register it:
regsvr32 MSCOMM32.OCX

Then I went into device manager, found the device that was reporting a missing driver, pointed it at these drivers unzipped into a directory:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

I then went into the device under ports in device manager and made sure it was set to the correct rate (115k)
Sorry for the lack of clarity (I didn't take detailed notes), but I hope this helps you. I got it working, don't give up hope! Oh, and I think I had to reboot Windows a few times (and for some reason install multiple drivers...). Good luck.
Sorry for double posting, this is in my update to the rooomba status thread, but since I was trying toi schedule I think it's best to have it all here. in my windows 7 I had to copy the file to the windows/sysWOW64 folder, it wouldn't register on the system32 folder.

Hi,

Brand new here -- very interested in this hack. I want to know one thing. If I buy a serial cable, and communicate with the roomba once, it should have all it needs to run every day on a schedule? I don't need to have constant access to it via USB or bluetooth?

Thanks

Once you set the clock and then send the schedule you want the Roomba to perform, no further action is required until you want to change your schedule settings.

Hi! Some time since last post, but I'll try anyway. I'm not sure that I can use Roomba Status software to connect to my roomba via RooWifi, I can however connect with another software called RealTerm (with port 10.0.0.1:9001). I was successful connecting and sending a beep command. I can see that this command:

167,127,12,00,12,00,12,00,12,00,12,00,12,00,12,00

is separated with , - but I don't think RealTerm uses these. In that case, would the commands look like this?

167 127 1200 1200 1200 1200 1200 1200 1200

Could be a stupid question, but just want to be sure before fiddling too much with my precious :D

You can try that string without the comma but you will need to send the 1200 as 12 00.

Hi Guys
A while ago I programmed myself a Liddle Programm to do my Scheduling for my 530 and 580 automatically.
Because it can be really tedious to do the Scheduling with a Terminal Adding and Subtracting all the numbers to input to the Terminal depends on which day you want your Roomba to run. You still need a Cable or and Board to connect your Computer to. The Programm makes the Process much painless to do when you Changing your Schedules Frequently

If you want to try it out i made it Open Scource on Git Hub
