Some Robots Eat Dust - Others, Flies

flypaperup.jpg

If you think you've had your fill of dust-eating robots, maybe you just need to take some time out to have a look at their carnivorous cousins.

James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau are two innovative designers who have been doing collaborative work since October of 2000. Their latest collaboration resulted in a digital clock cum bug eater.

The whole 'robot' is made up of a box-like contraption with a flytrap surface that functions like a conveyor belt. When a fly lands on the sticky surface, it gets dragged to a scraper.

After being scraped from the surface, it falls into a container filled with microbes that will digest it and use up the energy released from the chemical reactions to power the clock and keep the conveyor belt moving.
