Roomba 416 Review

With the iRobot Roomba 416 you have something that will automatically move around to vacuum clean rooms that have carpeting or hard surfaces. This device can recognize the different surfaces and will make the transition from one to the other automatically.

The features of the Roomba 416 allow it to effectively clean floors and keep them free of dirt, dust and even small pieces of garbage. In order to ensure that the Roomba 416 optimally cleans floors it is important to properly maintain the device by cleaning the brushes and keeping the filter clean or replacing it if necessary. No vacuum bags are required since the Roomba 416 has a bag-less debris bin.

This vacuum cleaner robot is very efficient and can navigate through rooms on its own and is capable of avoiding stairs with the integrated Stair Avoidance System.  It has three cleaning modes to choose from and if there is somewhere in your home that the Roomba 416 should not clean or go to, then you can set up the two virtual wall units to mark those specific areas as off limits to the device. These so-called virtual walls send out an infrared beam that the Roomba vacuum robot picks up and once it does it knows to not cross those barriers. The only thing to keep in mind is that the virtual wall units also require D batteries and if the batteries run out of power then the Roomba will go to the off limit areas.

Three Modes for Cleaning Floors

The Roomba 416 features three different modes to choose from in order to clean the floors. The first mode is known as the Clean Mode and when this is chosen then the Roomba vacuum cleaner will automatically go about determining the size of the room it is in and once that is done the time needed to clean is adjusted accordingly. The second mode is called the Spot Mode and if this is chosen then the Roomba 416 will move in a three foot diameter around the spot. The third cleaning mode is the Max Mode. In this mode the Roomba robot will just continually vacuum floors until the battery runs out of power.

Floors remain clean when the iRobot Roomba 416 does its job, because the vacuum itself is very powerful and the brushes it uses are counter-rotating which enables the cleaner to lift up dirt and dust from virtually any type of flooring. Rooms can even have different kinds of floor surfaces since the Roomba 416 will notice the change and make the necessary adjustments. All that the owner has to do is start the Roomba and it will do the rest on its own.

What to Expect When Purchasing

Anyone who purchases the Roomba 416 will get a vacuum cleaning robot that is able to navigate through the rooms to be cleaned without any extra help. It is able to vacuum carpets and also clean up hard floor surfaces, such as laminate or sealed hardwood flooring. This model is one of the smaller versions of the Roomba series and it covers up to two average sized rooms with a fully charged battery. The battery is fully recharged in less than three hours due to the advance power supply battery and fast charger.

The Roomba 416 is compact in size and weighs only a little more than nine pounds. If the regular features that come with the Roomba 400 series of vacuum robots is not enough for the job or someone has some special requirements, then accessories can be purchased for the device. This makes the system even more versatile and special problems can be addressed, such as pet hair.
